I've not personally seen any damage from the dozens of peaceful protests in London that have been ongoing in the past 2 years.
How has he done that? Nothing to do with police cuts or closing police stations... Boris started that ball rolling
I agree with you on your points except this one. It's safe to say that if you're a raving loony you probably voted for Trump but it isn't fair to say all his voters are the same. I suspect many of them are decent people who used their vote as a protest vote against the political establishment after years of seeing their living standards decline. Look at the choice they had - Trump or Clinton and we think we have problems. As a man I find him vile, repugnant, and not fit for office but he is the president of America and we have to deal with the office of president however unfit the incumbent is. I don't have an issue with protests, it demonstrates the freedoms we have in this country. I do think the inflatable baby is a little silly but nobody is breaking any laws so there isn't a problem. I just wish that we saw people mobilise themselves to protest other world leaders with far worse records than Trump. People like the leader of China who visited recently and the King of Saudi Arabia whom, unless I am mistaken, didn't draw anywhere near the protests that Trump is going to get.
It's an increasing national problem, not just a London problem. It's a bit like the usual Tory standpoint blaming Labour for the recession back in 2008, when it was a global economic crisis. Anything can be twisted to suit an agenda.
More dangerous than Washington DC? You might want to compare the crime rates. Yes London had twice as many murders as Washington last year, but it is ten times the size. Johannesburg, Panama City, Bogota are all in the West and worse than both.
Churtonwoods nailed this thread in a couple of words PROTEST VOTING, its not about voting for what you believe in anymore, its about voting against wot tha dunt like.
I'd agree about protesting against all leaders who are of the ilk of Putin, Xi etc. They come from totalitarian states and our protests will have no effect whatsoever. A visible protest against Trump will signal to Americans how much their President is reviled the world over. I also agree that the choice the American people had at the election was an awful one but ignorance and party tribalism over common sense left one of the most powerful democracies in the world in the hands of a narcissistic criminal. And that reality was obvious before the election. He's a threat to every democracy in the civilised world.
I don't disagree with much of what you're saying. Trump is a disgrace and is completely unfit for such high office. I just don't have it in me to discuss him tonight. Nothing to do with you mate, I'm just utterly deflated and completely despondent after tonight's game.
Agree. End of the road for England tonight. There is a protest in Leeds. I'll be working, but some of my mates are going. Trump is with us to just before the next world cup...
I agree with you. Truth is no one in the USA will see it. To think we have any influence on the USA is foolish, we have given that away leaving the EU.
A tiny influence. There's a fair number of Trump supporters living under the delusion that the rest of the world love Trump. Anything to burst that bubble even though they are completely tuned out from actual facts. In terms of leaving the EU I agree. I watch US political coverage via YouTube every day. Whenever they mention their main allies and the big players in the world they mention Germany, France, Canada. Us...nothing like as often. Our global influence has already diminished thanks to Brexit.
