No, probably Swansea would have to pay both us & Brentford a wedge out of any profit as I understand it , but I could be wrong
I've never heard of clubs still having clauses after a player has been sold more than once. A completely new contract is drawn up that would effectively void any previous agreement so I'll be amazed if anyone other than us gets a percentage.
The clauses as I understand them is that any profit made on players in transfers either directly or indirectly by club initially sold to is divisible . For instance we still have an interest in John Stones if Man City sell and any profit Everton have agreed we have an interest
Patrick Cryne confirmed that we will get a cut of anything Everton get for John Stones. So, if Everton have a sell-on and Man City transfer him we’ll get a % of Everton’s cut from the deal. That’s not to say all sell-ons work like that of course..
That’s correct I think the sell on clauses are mainly from our accademy players but I think Mawsons was an exception in that a similar clause was inserted by Brentford
The sell on clause is with the club we originally sold the player to, not the one he subsequently moves on to. So, in the case of John Stones, we get 15% of all profit Everton makes on him. If they didn't put a clause in when he was sold on to Man City then it is unlikely they will get any more profit and so we won't get any more money. If, however, they have a clause that says they get 10% (or whatever) sell on from Man City's sale, then we get 15% of whatever they get from Man City. And so on. Whilst ever Everton profit from John Stones, so do we.
