Roy Keane doesn’t like people from Barnsley does he. Walks out on his team in a World Cup when McCarthy is manager and then gets on the case of John Stones. Stones was slow with their second goal, but they would have had three more had he not been playing. Very proud of the lads yesterday and it’s good to punch above our weight rather than the humiliation of losing to Iceland.
Was quite funny watching Ian Wright wind him up after the game. Not got time really for either but Keane is a massive miserable tw@t
Hes brutal at times, doesn't hold any punches, says it as he sees it, without sugar coating if for the easily offended, i love the bloke. You know exactly where you stand with a bloke like Roy, because he'll tell you straight to your face, if he thinks you're going to like it or not, no pussy footing around being two faced, straight and to the point
He's arrogant and seems to think punditry is below him. He pretty much said that to Kilbane's face a few years back: Fair enough if he thinks that but why do it? Hes had a face on all tournament as though he wants to punch someone. Strange bloke!
Hes an old fart. Good for being the miserable one out of the panel, but thats all. If you want honesty in a panel of pundits, don't employ liars.
Also part of the coaching staff of the Irish national team that didn’t call Hourihane up until he went to a bigger club, despite Conor having the most assists in the league with us.
Always been a bit of a tit, saw him get a slap for having a go at a girl at a burger van outside a Night club in Nottingham, best bit was Clough made him go to the girls work the following week and apologise.
Just read a good irish article having a right go at him. Put his ego before his country in 2002. No grounds for criticising England when he is assistant manager of an Irish team that got hammered 5-1 by Denmark and plays execrable football. No holds barred. I'd add to that that he should have served jail time for his assault on Haaland. The guy's up there with Maradona.
I genuinely would love to know what he’s like in real life, when all the pundits go out after does he go with them for a meal & drinks? Part of me thinks he’s probably just a bell end but the other part of me thinks he probably puts a lot of it on to keep up his image
There were plenty of players making mistakes in the last 15 minutes. A minute before that Lingard lost his marker from a corner and their sub ran into the box unmarked and had a free shot. Just so happened that Stones' mistake led to a goal. Same as in any match really, you see loads of errors that might cost a goal but don't and no-one mentions them again. The one player whose error leads to a goal gets slaughtered. Stupid really, errors were being made everywhere. Keane was saying at half-time that Croatia were a very poor side and were there for the taking. To my untrained eye I could see that was ******** and said that to the people around me. It didn't take much imagination to see Croatia would be able to fix things after the break. How you get to a World cup semi-final with a midfield comprising of players from Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter etc. and be 'very poor' Roy Keane would have to explain. I think he was just being lazy with language and can't imagine him being a great manager to work for.
Think he probably is like this in real life. I have some Ipswich friends who told me, when he was manager there, that a paper boy saw him walking his dog: "Good morning Mr. Keane" says the lad. "**** off" replies Keane. Not saying this is true, because I wasn't there and it may be an urban legend, but it gives some indication of how he was perceived by some Ipswich fans. The team were mediocre at the time.
