For me one of the big plus points in league one is that there seem to be more honest fans without egos the size of Jupiter.
Copy and pasted off their site...... There will be better games to come. Personally, I enjoyed the day out, the Barnsley fans I met were great, the stadium was excellent and one of the best I’ve been to, and I love that football is back. Onwards and upwards. COYY
It definitely felt like a release, after all that went on last season yesterday we started like a team who knew what they were doing at last! The fact Mamadou scored too added to the celebration I think
Given the stick "fatty" Thiam, Potts and Davies get on here on a regular basis, it was brilliant that two of them scored and the other kept a clean sheet.
" As we were walking up through the car park yesterday" Thought it was going to develop into "monster mash"
I saw a friend's photo of Rochdale at Burton and suddenly realised we are MASSIVE relatively speaking. Sigh
As a place Oxford is what it is compared Barnsley; like all affluent places able to spend money we could only dream of.
On the way home, we saw a solitary yellow shirted figure on foot disappearing into deepest darkest Lundwood. We were going to pull over and check he wasn't suffering from PTSD or something.
Agree to some extent Ian but at the risk of sentimentalising the West Stand, it’s serves as a reminder or symbol of who we are and our history.
Long time no post Monkey - I tried to wave at you at the game but you never looked round whilst I was looking in your direction if it makes you feel better we arent as massive as Sunderland
One of our sales guys at work is from Sunderland and a season ticket holder, he was telling me they’ve sold 20,000 season tickets, which is more than last season. They are much happier now this season and see a sort of fresh start, rid of premiership hangers on and baggage.
I don't want to sound all Wensdeh but when you look at our ground, even though we may criticise aspects of it, it's not half bad ! Those of you who go to the away games will probably see a very wide variety of grounds and should always think that Oakwell is a good place to come back to. By the way, nice to see Celebrity Monkey back.... I do hope there will be a resurgence of CM matchday antics to view.
