For the first time in living memory we get through a summer without cashing in on players, keep the squad together guided by the manager's wishes, and also invest in some new young British talent for the long term. And to quote Bury's Chairman after we signed Callum Styles :

"We thank Barnsley Football Club for the way that they have handled the situation. They have been interested in Callum for some time now and have been considerate throughout the process. I especially thank Chief Executive Gauthier Ganaye, for his professionalism on this deal and the way he has conducted business."

    But motives and that.

Praise has to go to the owners What a refreshing change they have informed the football World that we no longer sell players on the cheap.

Lindsay, Moore, Bradshaw (at least) would have gone previously.

Not saying we'll get promotion or anything but the new owners have allowed the manager to keep his squad together, and that's all they can do in reality - back the boss.

Good that we have kept the team together. Unclear how seriously we were pushed.

850k close for a fairly average forward if I'm honest.

To be fair, Conway did update us from the original presser in December in the vid on the bfc website. Moved on from "not doing anything crazy".... to "not do anything irrational". Maybe a confession appointing Morais was very much crazy!

I think they've done some interesting things, the Hall of Fame, the mural, the additions to the Family Area, all after relegation. I think they could communicate better as a set of directors, a shame, because when they do speak, they come across well, and if they did it more, I think they'd win more and more fans on board.

The timing of the kit could've been a lot better, but that could have been an issue with Puma, and I know several were disappointed with how ticketing and season ticket information was dropped on people.

Overall, they've done ok to date and I'm pleased they aren't throwing money about like many new owners. I suspect there are plenty of things being discussed in the back ground, things like better stats based systems identifying overseas players, but we won't see big changes until we're back in the championship.

Hopefully we'll see contracts offered on a more timely basis for players the manager rates as he gets to know his players more, and aside from that, we can see more of the fast paced attacking intent we had against Oxford. Was refreshing to hear Winkler suggest keeping feet on the ground and saying we were quite lucky, and we could retain the ball much better. Higher hopes than I did early May, so I hope we're making constant improvements and any error of judgement or process, we learn from and eradicate.

Yes it’s good that we have held on to our players.
However, I think we should have brought in a couple of forwards - just in case Moore or Bradshaw are out for some reason.

But - I haven’t seen owt much yet of the young forards Victor and Brown.

I agree Nudger.A promotion chasing team needs a strong squad in every department.I think we're a little light up front.

Squads big enough, very unlikely that you'll lose your front two to long term injuries

Average in championship with no service, last time in league one he got 23 for Walsall and spent time out with injury. A 15-20 goal a season league one striker would cost more than 850k to replace.
Fair play for not selling though I'm unsure as to wether previous owners would of sold for that would of probley been a case of call it 1million and he is yours then undisclosed and he wanted to leave.

Could always go into the loan market for that if needed

I can see that Chaplin being brought in on loan in next couple of weeks. As for Adeboyejo I think it’s clear to see we don’t see him as an U23’s player anymore and he will get his chance. So with Moore, Bradshaw, Adeboyejo and Chaplin along with possibly Brown we should be more than sorted in the striking department.

Superb in my opinion. Was wondering how things were going to go. They’ve exceeded my expectations and I’m really happy. If they continue to build then can’t see any reason not to be confident and get right behind them.

We did bid for Ivan Toney last night, and did have it accepted according to someone on Twitter - Peterborough owner confirmed it - so looks like we either are in for a striker or thought one was leaving.

I’d wondered where Jacob Brown was, so was pleased to hear he’s just been out and nearly fit. Honestly think he has so much potential that if this manager gets it out of him then by the end of the season he’ll be a good L1 striker at least. (Ive been very wrong before though so hope I’ve not cursed him!)

Its often a domino effect, saw Millwall turned down bids for players from Boro. If they'd been acceptable, they'd likely increase bids for their targets. If they'd offered more and it been into the million plus category, I wonder if they outcome would've been the same, I suspect not.

£650k.... the world has gone completely mad!

You see the crazy amounts paid by Fulham and Wolves, and even Blackburn putting £5m bids in, clearly the Venkys didn't learn from their last championship campaign. Bonkers.
