I noticed Potts did a good holding job midfield on more than one occasion. Getting ball from goal kicks etc midfied and with back to attacking half held ball and laid off to advancing forwards. Got stick but though he was tidy. Moore is a big lad and imposing but his ball control needs to improve as quite few times he lost out being a bit heavy with his first touch Final thoughts... can we have that ref every week? IMO apart from one occasion in pulling us back to award us with a foul instead of playing advantage, he had a good 'even handed' game. (Davies need to stop that time wasting but got some stern words from the ref) He saw through the penalty claim as a dive especially as the ball had already got away and was going out of play at speed before the player hit the ground. He let the game flow, seemed pretty consistent with decisions, wasn't over fussy and kept up with play.
He was a decent ref, to be fair. His linesmen were a bit inept, and both insisted on staring at the ref before putting their flag up, but had no impact on the game itself. What you wouldn't catch on iplayer, though, is how brilliant the Bradford fans were before, during and after the game, as were Oxford last week for that matter. Both had fans come on here before the games, being thoroughly decent. Both sets were friendly and sociable in the pubs and on the walk to the ground. And the complimentary Twitter extracts, post match, about our performances were written very honestly and full of praise for us. I hope this is just a brief visit to League One for us, but it looks like we'll make friends here. Good honest football with good honest fans.
Playing Potts on the right allows us to push Thiam much further up on the left. Our 4-4-2 turns into a 4-3-3 when we have the ball. I think Davies has been told to take his time at free kicks to allow our players to recover from the press. That’s fine by me.
I believe the time wasting by Davies is because he is following instructions from our coach, as part of the pressing game is to introduce little breaks in play to allow players a breather . If you noticed the previous week there were a couple of occasions where the game was held up whilst our players did there laces up , suppose its a bit of subtle time wasting with a purpose.
That’s because we were trying to hang on for any points we could, its definitely tactical this season. Same outcome though I guess.
For a big lad Moore is pretty decent with the ball at his feet, Potts is key to how we play and the top sides know game management to help us control and finish off a game. All good no negatives yet.
