I'm not a builder so just asking the question as the club will know better than me as they will about how doable it is. Even if it's just tent style addition to the end of it that's used on rainy days.
Give over. You aren't daft so you must know what a massive undertaking and huge cost it would be to replace/extend the roofs and the idea of an awning that is pulled out is frankly laughable. Look up when you're in the stands, other than the West stand the roofs do come fully forward. If their than spend millions building roofs that extend way over the pitch there isn't much the club can do about the fact that rain doesn't always fall at an exact 90°. The away stand has the exact same problem by the way, as do nearly every stand in the country as rain is as unpredictable in other towns
Take the west stand lower for example. I know taking off the upper tier roof and extending to cover the lower tier would be costly, but i'm sure that isn't the only option. Even if they put a few posts up in the corners between the stands and put a GBBO tent style covering above. Not everything has to be done expensively and it would stop people cramping to another part of the ground or moving to the back of the stand. During the downpour against Walsall the stands emptied quite a lot and the atmosphere suffered from it with less people willing the team on. Second half was back to normal when the rain wasn't anywhere near as bad.
But before you was asking for all the roofs extending which just isn't possible. A roof COULD be put on the lower tier of the west stand but 1. It would look atrocious 2. It would be a big cost for very little gain and would be throwing yet more money patching up a delapidated stand 3. It would ruin the sughtlibes for anyone in the upper tier 4. Camera gantry 5. It isn't needed, we have a 23000 seater stadium and just a few hundred people CHOOSE to sit there There are a lot of improvements the club can make to make things better for the fans but asking for something daft like extending all the roofs isn't feasible and just diverts attention away from things that will actually make a difference
Same question I've asked for the last 20 years. Barnsley produces some of the finest beer and pies in the world, why don't we sell this local produce in the ground?
Players in pre season were talking about how stendel wants players to slow things down on throw ins etc as it gives us a chance to recover, therefore increasing the likelihood of being able to sustain our style of play for longer. Wouldn't be surprised if the slow return of the ball is deliberate. Be interesting to hear his thoughts on this.
Well, they've tied themselves into deals with Pukka and Carling under Mansford so I doubt they could do so until those deals have expired but I guess the financial clout of these companies is likely to prevail. There was some debate over us continuing with Acorn in Redfearn's bar at the time but I think it was ok'd as part of the deal. Worth asking as well as why it takes half an hour to get a drink at half time. I think before that, the catering company stopped doing Acorn due to the amount of waste at each game. I *think* they were getting bright beer like we do in Redfearn's which only keeps a couple of days. Not sure if that was due to lack of proper forecasting or lack of demand.
Lack of training as well. It was very much a different team on every game often young without any management supervision or help told to get on with it. Not much different now minds.
See if we could get involved in something like Just Eat so we wouldn't need our own app. Catering usually has two people serving and we don't have barriers to stop pushing in. They could have three people serving and each dealing with a queue within a barrier. One of the three would be a pre paid only queue and whenever that queue is empty they can help their other two work colleagues. Then if by using the app you've ordered a pie and cuppa for 3:30 you can go downstairs to the pre paid queue, show order confirmation on your phone and be handed your order within seconds, that's already been sorted for you to turn up at the time you told the app you'd be there for. So if you turn up late and your food and drink has gone cold it's your own fault.
Limited space is one issue in the Ponte and probably east upper as far as barriers etc go. It needs a system where a token can be bought ahead of time and then it becomes about distributing.
Never seems to be same staff on each home game. Doesnt help theyve two sets of pumps and only use one. In an ideal world should have 4 one. Two on cash two pulling pints with able assitance where required from cashiers.
I would like to see a full plan of what the owners are planning on doing to improve the customer experience in and around the ground. Is there any plan on building any purpose built bars or areas that show sports before the game starts? Any possible developments to the stadium? Have the owners thought about any ideas to get more fans in oakwell? Could we do what I believe Bradford did the other year where the more season tickets they sold the cheaper they were? Have we got any funds available for January without having to sell anyone?
They could just make one kiosk contactless payments only because a lot of the delays are due to messing around with cash / have you got the right change etc. Have 2 people manning it, one fetching the goods, whilst the other takes payment. Would take no effort to introduce.
Hound for a pound so you could take your dog to the game with you never got off the ground when Adam Hinchcliffe came up with the idea on here about 15 years ago.
Same old from me: Are we in a position to strengthen at the start of the window and therefor have our new players for all the January matches? How long is the catering contract for? IF we go up, is the club ready to challenge syp a bit more vigorously over lost ticket sales and kick off times?
New scoreboard capable of a "sponsored kiss-cam" that can be shown whilst waiting for the ball to be retrieved (if nothing changes on that front). i don't buy into the idea that having multiple balls wouldn't afford the players a rest if needed, as there are ways to delay taking the throw-in if it suits the team. But like Mateo Corbeo says, interesting to tap into the management's thinking.
