I was not trying to say I was better fan than anyone else’s
I was referring to a lot attendance up and down the country-I know quite a lot of ex Barnsley fans who don’t go anymore for what ever reason I remember 30 thousand plus down at oakwell so where have there gone ??
I also remember going down to oakwell and only 17 hundred watching the reds
The trouble with this modern day football is all down to GREED

Maybe next it’ll be Manchester United Barnsley FC... greed and money keeps the football rolling.

Next they’ll be selling the national stadium for a pittance... oh

    Absolutely bang-on.

We support a storied club with 130 years of history. We've played in the top division, won the FA Cup, knocked two Champions League semi-finalists out of said cup one after the other, been in administration, produced John Stones, got promoted when it looked as though we were getting relegated at Christmas. We're gods away from home in play-off semi-finals. We've been owned, managed and captained by Barnsley people. It was just like watching Brazil and we've got dedicated fans who put their lives on hold to make a spine-tingling film about it.

We should not be seen as some shitty little entity who exist for the likes of Everton (who never win anything, never do anything) to test their under-12s against. Not in my name. Until and unless it changes, I'm not going. Not using my iFollow to listen to it. It doesn't exist. It is the Transnistria of football tournaments: not recognised.

There's been several crowds of 30000 and more over the years. During my time, the Man City league cup game in 1981 attracted nearly 34000, and the Everton cup game in 1989 attracted nearly 33000. I'm sure people can think of others.

Long time ago, I recall the Everton game being 32k ish, but only time theres been so many in my time. A few decent 20k plus crowds, but very much one offs when local derbies and big cup games seemed to mean more.

32,551 off the top of my head. Honestly!

I overheard the then chairman Geoff Buckle as someone asked him the crowd, and that was the reply. For some reason I've wasted 5 brain cells on it ever since, 1 for each digit.

I had tickets for cup matches against Luton Town which was attended by more than 32,000 at tthe following round, a 6th round replay of over 39,000 againt Leicester. If my old brain serves me right it was 4 shillings (20p) to get in.

When we played Man u at home in the early sixties , I think 1963 , there was approx 38 ,000 there, including me who was on the open terrace west , on the left hand side of the tunnel . It was my first view of George Best in the flesh, who remains still today as the greatest player I ever saw live , what a player .
