Pearson actually scored? I always thought it was like the Loch Ness Monster, talked about but never seen.
That game was actually his home debut. His debut came the week before when we lost 2-1 at Leicester. Mind you, Biggins scored that day, too!
Loved Bertie. Some proper quality goals from a player who had a heck of a lot of clubs, and attracted a variety of comments from the fans he played in front of. I'm a member of an excellent group on Facebook called English Football in the 1980s and someone posted a recent picture of him the other day asking if anyone knew who he was. I recognised him straight away and posted a number of comments about him. Someone from Celtic said he was the worst player he had ever seen playing for them! Another said "Is it Mark Robins" while another said he had kept Fergie in a job (see the confusion? ). For anyone that uses FB I would recommend that group - there are posts every day showing some good old photos and video clips. Even some Barnsley ones!
Jock(and Celtic fan) at work has said the same to me about Biggins even going as far as to label him the worst player he has ever seen in Celtic shirt. That first season Biggins was class for us and helped turn our fortunes round however the season after under Vivian you could tell he was on the slide and we definitely had Celtics Keck's down in the swap for Andy Payton. Sithi.
Yes, it could be the only time in history that a swap has been so much in our favour. Andy Payton was always one of those players you hated before he came to Oakwell. Then he became a folk hero
