No I can’t believe it’s true either. I understand the ‘young player’ policy. BUT A young player in a Championship team is worth a lot more than a young player in a 1st Division team. A young player in a Premier League team is worth a lot more than a young player in a Championship team. So why would the owners purposely decrease the value of our players - by not providing them with the best chance to get into a higher league? That is to say - by not employing a few older players like Hammill the owners would be actively increasing the risk of not achieving promotion - and thus decreasing the value of their squad. That would be counter productive and it doesn’t make any business sense.
Most of this story seems unlikely the but about the house visit is true though for what reason I have no idea.
I think it’s been said before that you can have young players with experience, the best of both worlds. I think we’ve tried to sign players who have a lot of games under their belt but are still relatively young and have resale value.
Not often I say this but that's an excellent point nudger. I get the whole saleable asset thing with the younger players but one or 2 older heads may be just the ingredient we need to get us in the top 2. Then the younger players will be worth much more to us.
FML because Hammill vas ******* brilliant for the last 2 seasons vasn’t he? More goal threat from Adam Davies.
No. He was brilliant in the promotion season and average at best in the two Championship seasons. That's why he's at St Mirren. You should be an agent. Sign my attacking winger because he's more of a goal threat than yer average keeper.
It was an analogy about the fact that people sometimes have to accept that all good things do come to an end. Brad Potts is potentially a better player than Adam is, in his twilight years as a player. I like many would have liked a deal to be done to keep him, but in the words of Roy Orbison "It's Over".
Let’s hope the owners think it’s also an excellent point. Cutting yer nose off to spite yer face springs to mind. But surely they will have thought of this. Surely they have ???
Already a boxing promoter m8. Hammill is about at the level he should be. Never got my head around how people could big Hammill up yet slate Kent who vas twice the player in his season here.
I liked Kent. Great potential. But FFS - yer can’t compare him to Hammill !!! Hammills work rate was incredibly - he loved Barnsley - and importantly he could pass and cross a ball. No one currently at the club can cross a ball as good as Hammill - and with Kieffer in the team that’s a great loss. Adam Hammill will always be a legend at the WELL. Kent’s time at Oakwell will soon be forgotten.
Agreed, but it is gone now Nudge. We are on an interesting adventure this season. My feeling is we'll get better as the season goes on. Loss of Dougall is a big blow mind. Woodrow and Hedges of they stay fit could add something we have been lacking going forward. All in all I'm more than happy this far.
But does that mean Hammill is the answer or is it more we should have signed a vinger in the summer? Hedges is the answer for me if he ever gets a run of games. Back to Kent though, he vas better than Hammill in that season he vas here. Not enough goals or assists for his overall play but the vay he carried the ball and pushed the team up the pitch vas massive for us an missed that last season massively. Plus I remember him smashing the voodwork about 5 times so was unlucky vith his stats really. Give my left and only bollock to have him back now
I dunno. Blonde hair, sculptured body, athletic, young, lean and crispy. He'll never be a winger but I bet he's a good ****.
