    Hi

Thanks for the add. My name is Danny Owens.
My eldest boy is 10 on Sunday and he’s at the ‘who to support stage’. Also at the age of what hobbies and interests he wants to do.
We caught the Luton game on sky and I asked him if he’d like to go to a match. I took him to the Bristol Rovers game, as cold as it was he loved it, he asked for a hat and scarf at full time so I duly obliged. Next match Southend at home he wants to go again, now he’s getting the bug, as I did in about 91, although time hasn’t been good to me through work every weekend and I had to give up having a season ticket in the early 00s. Time is now much easier and I’ve loved introducing him to it all, but it makes me sad to have missed so much.
Time to enjoy it again now I guess. Something for a lad and his dad to do together.
Usually they want to go with who their mates like or who’s top of the premier league.
He wants the full kit for his birthday so we’ve got it with 8 McGeehan on the back. My boys name is Cameron so I think that’s why he’s liking McGeehan.
Anyway. Sorry for the long post. Again thanks for the add.
    You Reds.

Good story. Probably how most of us started. Maybe in years to come he’ll be taking you to your last ever match. I did that with my Dad, but I didn’t know at the time that he wouldn’t be going again.

Haha. I’m sure it wasn’t pretty when I started going. Time will tell.

I've got 2 southern softie boys who are now die hard tarn fans. I took the eldest to an Arsenal game about 10 years ago thinking he'd want to support a Prem team like all his mates round here. My reasoning for Arsenal being, if I had to take him somewhere other than Oakwell then at least Arsenal played good football. Even bought him the full kit. Also took him to a few Reds games back then. I fully expected him to become a Gooner. To my surprise (and delight) after about a year he told me he wasn't bothered about Arsenal and that Barnsley was his team. Now he's more obsessed/depressed than I am. :)
The really nice thing about it is the time we get to spend together, I enjoy the journey as much as the match. I think wherever he ends up after Uni etc. chances are we'll still meet up at least a couple of times a year to go to a game.
