I want us to do well in the FA cup and put in 100%. A big opportunity to see if we can compete with some decent Championship sides with the current squad if we progress past notts
I think the top half of the championship would hand us our a@rse on a plate, but I like your optimism.
If we can get to the 3rd round and face a team from either of the top 2 divisions then we've every chance. Odds are that they'd play their reserves and our first team should be a match for most of them (Man City excluded).
Definitely possible mate, but would be a good test to see how far away we are from where we want to be
Hope all you lot going today see a good performance, maybe a goal or two from Woodrow and a safe passage into Round Two.
In a cup match maybe not. Over a season I agree, at the moment this team would struggle. But they aren't in the championship so it doesn't really matter. If we were to go up it would be all about the additions. Some players would step up and some wouldn't. The only under 24 policy would likely be a problem.
I don't see the under 24/25 policy lasting forever. The big money in football is to be made in the Premier League. That's what our owners want a piece of. We're not going to get there with a team of exclusively under 25s.
I love the FA Cup but it's slowly dying. They should give the winner a champions league spot but it will never happen
Breezed it according to the stats. Nice to see Woodrow off the mark. A home draw against the lowest ranked team left in it for the next round please.
We played our reserves against Everton in the Checkatrade I'd expect the first team to comfortably wallop them.
So - if it's a proper cup, why is it dying? Must be the apathy of the fans. Poor turnout today .. after all the whinging about the Checkatrade thing.
Breezed it completely. Five minutes of wobbles while we realised they were faster than expected with pace up top, but as they were nowt but route one we got more and more dominant. Slack finishing first half, switched it on second and battered them. We were taking the piss at the end, they couldn't get near the ball.
An easy win but great for Woodrowto be off the mark. Also promotion chasing teams need to be confident and 4 different players getting goals can only help with this.
2014 Barnsley 5 Burton 0 1st round 5,158 2006 Barnsley 1 Darlington 0 1st round 6,059 Not too bad 5,800 ish.
