I don't think anyone is happy we've lost, but I'm honestly indifferent about it. Would obviously have preferred a win, but won't be losing a single second of sleep about losing.

Joke competition, we don't have a huge squad and don't need the extra fatigue and injury risk. We should have held a raffle and fielded a team of 11 season ticket holders.

I should imagine people are not gutted we are out so we can concentrate on the league.its a poor competion now with the new format which is mirrored by the number of fans who turn up to watch, I said on a previous post winning breeds confidence but I, like many including the players won't be disheartened by being knocked out, IMO of course.

Thought Daniel was a bit mental putting out the team he did with the fixtures we have coming up.

It was a worthwhile competition, giving some of the fringe players proper game time . Going out could be a blessing in disguise with the busy Christmas period and the FA cup third round on the horizon .

I don’t blame him for picking a core of first teamers - they were very green and made mistakes the city kids but their quality on the ball and the pace most of them had was well in front of what we face week in week out.

Despite that we still should have beaten them.

They’ve ruined what the competition was. Even though I was never a massive fan of it before, I saw its value and our club hugely benefited from it. This version is another concession to the big club’s and little more.

It would have been nice to get through, I’m in no way bothered that we didn’t.

I’d love a cup run, but they can have costs. If we get beaten by Burnley early January as well, it means we have just one thing to concentrate on. That would be no disaster realistically.

Because it’s a distraction that we don’t need. It’s going to be tough getting a top two spot this year and that’s the focus.

We have a massive squad by League One standards, got at least 2 players for every position except centre back

did i want us to win last night...of course i did, i was dreaming of going to Wembley again and being able to take my son for the first time. But, am i bothered that we went out; no not really. We gave it a good go, it was an entertaining match against some talented kids but the league is more important no question.

As one of the strongest three or four teams in the whole competition it's a trophy we should have realistically wanted to win. I, for one, am disappointed we lost.

We lost on pens not the game itself. Happy to be out of that farce of a competition though.

I'm glad, I want no part in that farce of a tournament and never will do until B teams are removed.

The inclusion of the under 21 teams has devalued the tournament immensely. But I'm still gutted we lost as this is the only cup we'll ever win and we had every chance of doing so. By going out it deprives the fringe players of much needed playing time and also rules out any hope of gaining valuable experience playing at Wembley, should we then get there again in he play offs. Winning breeds confidence after all and having bowed tamely out of the League Cup and now almost certainly about to lose in the FA Cup, I for one wanted to progress in the EFL Trophy.

what the competition needs now is for one or two of these U21 teams to get to the final. The sponsors wouldnt be happy, the final will be played in front of either an half empty stadium or couple of thousands fans max if two of these teams made it, and it might actually get the competition back to how its used to be. If they need extra teams in it why not just let some National League teams play?

Sponsors can't be that bothered or they wouldn't be in it to start with surely?
