No club statement about the smoke flares at Burnley, Potts transfer explained or quashing rumours about Ganaye leaving us. But we will have a statement about running on grass.

Flares are illegal in football grounds in the UK but the club can't check the pockets of every fan going to games, Preston paid money that we accepted for him therefore he left and Gauthier is on a list of candidates to take over at Nice, the other club owned by our owners and he could potentially go there, so it would be pointless "quashing" it because it might happen. There you go three statements in one.

If "running on the grass" gets us points deducted at some point it will seem pretty damn important.

The club needed to do this in my opinion. What happened Saturday happened and that should be the end of it, no punishments or inquiries needed.

But the club simply had to make a statement letting people know they don’t condone it and don’t want it happening again, lest someone with fouler intentions gets on in the future and does some damage or the club start getting it in the neck from the powers that be.

It's not particularly the one incident, I didn't actually see it on ifollow. It's more a cumulation of incidents really. We already have black marks on this front. Sod's law if the EFL decide to grow some balls and issue a punishment it will end up being us. They're not likely to pick on one of the big boys.

It adds to why our policing costs are high, and we have reduced capacity in the North Stand.

    Monkey see monkey do.

If we hadn’t put out a statement like this and be seen to be issuing preventative measures then it will just encourage more to run on.

Listen I’m not particularly arsed about the kids that run on at the end of the season or if it’s when we win promotion/survive relegation. Or even if it’s a goal that’s given us the lead in a vital match or a rival derby. But running on in added time when it’s a goal to make it 3-0 just seems daft and a bit pointless.

Always pops into my mind Clough going round handing out punches to supporters who have run on the field after a game once. Bless.

Absolute inconsiderate selfish chavs that run on the pitch and spoil the celebrations of supporters and players because they think they are so much more important fans than the rest of us . They've probably had two shandies so they lose their inhibitions . The pitch is for the players because we aren't good enough to play professional football , that's why they build the stands , stay in it .
