if you believe that will happen then you are very Naïve.... he will have an off shore bank account sorted and pay nowt..... how do you think rock stars go about it. They are like nomads.... I would wonder when the last time Elton John paid owt to a tax man or any of the Stones etc etc etc.... open yer eyes fella.
In their chosen profession they are highly skilled individuals, they aren't paid to be academics or professors just footballers, and as supporters, may it be though the turnstiles or subscribers to various sports channels we are all contributing to their salaries. Yes it is too much but they aren't to blame, we are .
Please read my initial post carefully. I said only that he will be liable to pay Italian income tax. I did not say that he would pay it
Agree, the footballers don't set the salaries. It's just sad that the vast amount of over inflated tv monies have gone largely to players and agents and not much else in the scheme of things. When you've got average players earning £20.8m basic... just one man of a likely 25 strong first team squad, it's just very sad. If we ran the percentages of income and their sources, I'm not sure the fan at the turnstile pays much towards salaries at all. Though ironically some of the poorest nations on the planet pay significant amounts for PL tv rights and have fanatical viewers waking in the small hours to watch their adopted team. No running water or electricity source. But they go and find a tv to watch their team of overpaid would be tax dodgers with scarred bodies fall over and cheat. The world is beyond crazy, ad the more you say the reality aloud, the more perverse it sounds.
agreed ... this is why the world of sports and entertainment etc is rotten.... offshore bank accounts etc . On a lesser scale my daughters ex partner worked on the oil rigs. His rig was outside of any countries territorial waters. They lived in Scotland. The rig piped the oil/gas to Norway. He was a month on, a month off. He commuted to the rig from Aberdeen. The oil company was not European based so paid them into an offshore bank.... he paid no UK income tax.
In Italy, players used to have their tax paid for by the club. When we had the first wave of Italians in the early prem league scene, many didn't want to come because they were worse off after tax was deducted. Carbone was a prime example, as part of his contract with wednesday, he was given regular bonuses, which effectively paid for his tax. As these payments took him above Hirst, Hirst was then paid regular loyalty bonuses to ensure he was still the top earner.
I'm not too sure some poor soles living in a country or village with no running water are full package sky sports subscribers . I would suspect 95%(random guess and figure)that incomes come from first world European countries and football loving South America . They have taps I think .
I can say from first hand experience that in Indonesia, in villages around massive bustling cities on the island of Java, that get their water from wells, and do not have mains electricity, that wake in the small hours to watch their adopted team before going to work. I heard the same on Lombok, and on Bali.
I've done the same but it's usually watching the ashes on tv in Australia . Midnight thru to 7am doesn't bode well for going to work .
To be fair ,it's £20 million per year, before tax, including his bonuses. I don't know what the higher rate of tax in Italy is for overseas employees. Christiano Ronaldo will be on more than this, plus they don't have any transfer fee and V.A.T to pay on acquiring him. In the EPL, Ozil and Sanchez are on £350k per week, Lukaku and Pogba are supposedly on £250k per week. In US sports, retained Contracted players are paid about the same as well.I don't begrudge him this move or being paid highly, he has served Arsenal very well for 11 years.
Spot on. I was agreeing with him. My point was that his accountant would have it covered through off shore accounts. My point was sarcastic. Shoot first read the post later sprung to mind. I won't lose sleep over it though.
Only if he chose to leave. Would someone pay a stupid fee and pay him more wages . ( Why would he accept less) for someone who is bang average . I do agree on that point. Just noted it would take the average British worker 67 years salary (£27000+) to earn 1 months equivalent of his salary. The world's gone mad.
