The SWFC CEO makes sense from what she attempted there. Trialed a Fan Zone, pop-up-shop at Meadowhall and tied the youth down to longer contracts. Spent a lot of time focusing on academy. I’ve no idea how good she is. Charlton fans hated her. No idea what Wednesday fans think - Chansiri seems to do more speaking than the CEO did. Maybe that’s why she’s left.
Achieved Charlton's first operating profit in thirteen years, according to Wiki. Young. Lawyer. Presumably multilingual?
I'm friends with a Charlton fan, and she was absolutely crucified. I'd hate to have her. Talking of Mr Mansford, I like the way he spoke, but not with how he fell out with people at the club.
Agree. I had nothing against Ben, but it was very much fur coat, no knickers. Much of the fanbase are easily soft-soaped with a bit of flattery, and that's what Mansford had in spades. The owners don't know him, and I suspect he wouldn't fit the hungry category they seem to want. Not sure the ex Wendies CEO is either. Short term at Charlton, short term at wendies… not sure that's hunger and ambition necessarily. But we shall see. It's a very important appointment, the appointment of Linton Brown was an utter disaster.
Just out of interest why? I don’t really get why so many people have strong opinions on Mansford & Ganaye either way as it seems hard to tell whether they’ve done a good job or not as we don’t know the circumstances they’re working under
As DWL said above, Mansford was all mouth and very little substance. GG made mistakes, yes, but he's also made huge strides in improving our image to people on the outside. You can't underestimate the power of good PR. GG understood that and was able to tap into it.
Makes sense on paper. Hard to judge someone based on time spent working for Duchatelet. Seems well liked at Wednesday. I'd be happy enough and would be great to have a female CEO.
She's absolutely despised at Charlton. As well as her actions, her words rubbed fans up the wrong way. Along the lines of (I paraphrase) this isn't the fans' club, it's our club. Fans are mere customers. It might be true, but it's an unwise CEO who breaks that link between the existence of the club and the stupid, blind loyalty of its fans. The problem at Charlton, is her boss (owner) was dis-liked. She may have come out with stuff she was told to say - we’ll never know. Some of the stuff Charlton did though, wasn’t as bad as others made out. They simply had to make major changes to the operating side to get it to break even. People not eating food at their desk so it saved on cleaning costs was one thing I remember. I’ve actually no idea if she’s any good or not. Seemed to do ok at Wednesday, but like I said, Chansiri seems to do a lot of the talking there.
She does fit the criteria. And putting Charlton aside, she’s done ok at Weds. Even at Charlton, she did ok business wise - the fans might not have liked her, but bringing in the changes required down there was never going to be popular, plus as an employee, she’s probably been told to say certain things.
