My God, Mr Garfield, put the fear of god into me, was in his class for Technical Drawing, Hated by many but took time to support those who were interested.
Best teacher I have ever had, even though I was also crap at technical drawing.
I remember when he retired we all had a send off type event

Aaarrgghh, you mentioned the unmentionable. Played football for the school and after a thigh injury (dead leg) was sent to Dickie for 'treatment'. Never reported another injury after that .....

Wes Hall was from Royston. Frequented the Pack Horse. Ex Normanton Grammar pupil.

Think Jacques was an Old Holgatarian.

I remember all those teachers on the photograph. Most of them will be dead by now. A mixture of the good, the bad and the ugly. I left in 1967.Who were the good guys?J P "Yogi" Bramall; Mike Freeman; Vic Prooth (if you kept on the right side of him) Harry Haigh; Harry Mirfin; Malc Fidgeon; "Pobbles" Lockwood, Jubb, Stott, Norman Goddard...

I made the mistake of (once only) going to his “surgery” I seem to remember it was sort of downstairs opposite the gym. I had a streaming cold and nasty cough- DP made his diagnosis by telling me to take down my shorts and cough whilst he held my (tiny) balls. Never again did I look at his horrible nicotine stained upper lip and slightly slobbery slurpy gob.

LOL, small world eh? I went to sixth form, (old girls school, now flats), then got a job at Yorkshire Bank. Stuck that out for 13 years.
Been working in music ever since. Lived in Leeds since 91. What about you?
