Was there really 5,000 empty seats tonight, capacity 23,287 with a 18,200 gate. From where we we're sat in the west stand it looked a bigger crowd than what was given out.

Probably yeah, isn’t the west 7,000? So half of that at most and 1,500 in the away end.

Does it really? Fair play then you might be on to Somthing.

Didn’t realise it was that small. (Won’t be first time I’ve said that)

And that’s if it’s all open. We usually have half of it closed so that’s 2500 off the capacity also we are not allowed to sell 1500 tickets in the away end. So true current capacity is 4000 less than the official capacity. So 19000
If we sold 18200 that means there were really less than 800 seats unsold

Let's face it, it is a bloody good crowd for a Tuesday night game, played in horrible weather conditions.
Respect to both sets of fans for the turnout & atmosphere, which was pretty good humoured.

    It was very good-humoured.

Sunderland's lot were nice and chilled.

For a club with loads of fans, I never get the sense of an imminent meltdown into disorder with them. Fair play to them. They travel in large numbers but behave themselves (or it seems that way to me.)

There's 1,200 upper tier seats in the West Stand, which leaves roughly 1,750 seats each side on the lower tier. Two of the five upper tier blocks are not in use. That means there was probably 2,500 max in the West Stand last night.

13700 home fans for a Tuesday night in the 3rd tier in those weather conditions. Owners take note build and they will come.

I would like to see a special deal for the remaining home games. I won't be put out to see the prices reduced just because I have a season ticket. Make it a fiver for all adults and a pound for kids and that could add a couple or three thousand onto the gates.

Got to be worth it surely. It was marvellous seeing 18,000 in the ground last night. I know we won't see an away following like that again this season but I would love to see the home areas packed out for every match.

Yep, be in for a bit of that, although I suspect if we're still going for it, then Blackpool on the 27th April might be a full house anyway. My money's waiting...

Only two more possible for me - Coventry and Blackpool. Be nice if the Seasiders still had something to play for as well so that they might turn up in numbers.

May seem a daft question, but why can`t we sell 1500 tickets in the away end?

It’s not a daft question but that’s all the safety certificate currently allows. For reasons I don’t understand we can’t sell the front 2 rows Aisle seats or the block by the East Stand. I think there is also an issue with space in the back of the stand. I think a lot of the problems stem from trouble with some away fans Leeds and I think Newcastle IIRC. Not sure if they can be fixed by adding more Stewards or Police

Seeing the crowd on Tuesday, especially the away end reminds me of one reason why we need to be back in the Championship. I'm loving this season but seeing 500 fans in the away end is one of the biggest downsides to this league.
