Need to change phone. Have used cheap and nasty budget phones for the last few years - false economy, my Blu Vivo has died this week.

I have been offered decent deals on Samsung Galaxy S8 and S9 - they probably need to get rid to push the new S10. Which is better please between the S8 or S9? I vaguely remember press around one of them having problems.

    Cheers

Go sim only. Cheaper per month and get a second hand one from Game or CeX

Second hand is a similarly false economy due to battery life of used phones. Buy new on a good deal and it’ll last you a lot longer. I do agree sim only though

I currently have S 9, had all previous ones, the last few are all much of the same but the S9 battery life is much much better.

Most of my phones have been Samsung over the years - had a brief spell with Apple but much prefer Samsung. On s8 now and never had an issue with it - will look at the s10 when I upgrade. I do have a Huawei p20 lite for work and these are decent phones as well- recommend it if you are looking for something cheaper

I've recently got an Hauwei - and the battery is amazing (as is the phone).

My last Galaxy was an S4, and I didn't stick with the brand due to the amount of bloatware. My last phone was a OnePlus One which was at the time the best phone I'd ever used ... until the Hauwei arrived.

S9 is decent. I use apple for everything but their phones, although I only used souped up 2012 Macs, as after that the MacBook Pro is garbage for DJing with.
Apple are cnuts now. Not tried the S10. Samsung all the way for me phone wise.

I'm iPhone all the way, to be honest, but if I had to change to Android I would go Huawei 100%. Samsung full of bloatware.

Still not a fan of Android and the security risks associated, but each to their own, I suppose. Can also see Huawei being banned from sale in the future, so enjoy while you can.

Got to agree with the dont get a new phone as part of a contract, unless you really have no other options. Just buy a phone and go sim only, overall you will save a lot of money and also get loads of data. I'm currently paying £12 a month for 20GB of data.
As for buying the phone options include, refurbished ones available on eBay and in Argos now I think. Buying one outright or using a 0% credit card or getting a argos card and paying it off in the interest free period (usually 6/9 months)
Contract deals are terrible when you do the maths over the term and usually come with poor amounts of data although some good deals do exsist.

He's right. Had a few Samsungs and always felt the build quality to be poor, and got annoyed by the number of useless inbuilt apps which you can't delete. Went for a Huawei p10 18 months ago when it was their flagship phone and paid 40% less than for an equivalent Samsung. No useless apps inbuilt and 18 months later it's still performing at the same speed as the day I bought it. An absolutely superb bit of kit.

If Huawei is banned, then Xiaomi is also well worth a look.

Never had a iphone my eldest has a iPad and the things drives me crazy. I was recently trying to get a video he had recorded with the camera off it and onto the pc, I was ready to throw the thing out of a window. User friendly it was not.
