That's how it should be at an away game PROVIDED everybody knows that rule is in force. You can bet though that at least half will be having arguments with people because someone is sitting in their numbered seat.
It only works when there's barely anyone there. As soon as you get a reasonable number of people in a stand you will get the problem where groups struggle to find seats together. And let's face it the only benefit of unreserved seating is that it means those who can't follow the simple rules are able to inconvenience less people.
Seemed to work fine, and those who wanted to stand were all together at the side. I thought it was well stewarded.
It’s not the only benefit. A couple of games recently I have had very poor seats and not ones I would ever have picked. At one game I did move but against Portsmouth I didn’t think there was anywhere I could move to so could barely watch the match Second point is you can sit together with people but don’t have to be so organised as to have one guy get all the tickets at once. I’m not a great fan of allocated sedating but I can see the point when it’s a near sell out I’d be more supportive if you could pick seats though. It’s a total lottery for away matches how good a seat you get
Think it shud have bin on the tickets.most dint kno and waited till 10 mins before kick off thinkin they ad a set seat. steward told me wen ah went to look at lads warmin up so ah rounded ar lot up and got settled.....reyt game tho..
For some reason in the second half we ended up with a gang of lads standing in the aisle in front of us. Most of them openly drinking bottled lagers. No intervention at all from the stewards. A fight broke out between two lads from a different group. No idea what that was about. Having said all that it didnt spoil anything like it did at Forest last season.
Expected bedlam when they said sit where you want. Especially as many had their tickets out looking for their seat, clearly not been told by the stewards. As you walk through the gangways and/or in the concourse they could have had posters up so nobody could miss the fact its unreserved for over 3,500 people. In the end I don't think it has many issues. The issues were people being allowed to stand in gangways or at the very front of the stand without being moved on. The police were very laid back letting a handful of grown men stand at the front of the stand by the corner flag on the east side bash non stop the advertising boards to make a noise without being told to go to their seats.
I was very surprised it was unreserved seating last night. It worked okay for me as I am able to stand up throughout the game but there was an old (ish) couple in front who were sat down and could barely see all game, not sure why they didn’t move. There were also loads in the aisles stood up. It could’ve been a lot worse but I don’t think it was ideal.
