Why Davies was being evasive. Probably as we had expected. www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-transfer-news-butland-2839761
Best of luck to him, would be a good move. We can't compete on wages, compared to the parachute payments
Only up the road to Merseyside where he's from too. He's had a brill season but three average before that to be balanced
Best of luck to him. I'd say we might get in another keeper from Germany. Hopefully in the Heinz Muller mould.
Giant of a German keeper incoming as a replacement. Hopefully more like Heinz Muller than Lars Leese.
To be fair he was absolutely gash in 2017-18, and plenty of people were calling for him to be shipped out. Now, I'd love him to stay, as I genuinely think that season was a blip. But imagine if he fell back into that form next season, having just signed a 4 year, 10k a week contract. I'm going to stick my neck out and predict that there would be a bit of noise on here if that were to happen.
26 year old viewed as a long term replacement for a 26 year old, bit weird that. If Davies can get that gig though and be their number one then fair play to him because it'll be a considerable wage rise as well
Neither Just a guess as to the route we will go down. Just need to find a list of German keepers aged no older than 25, who are at least 6ft 3 tall
Bet someone somewhere is frantically searching tranfermarkt.com for lower league keepers from Germany who are 20-25 years old...
I did hear we were looking at Marek Rodak from Fulham, just spent two years on loan at Rotherham. Slovak, 22, 6’4” or 6’5” tall, a season’s experience in the championship and league one before that. Seems to fit the bill - though I’ve no idea whatsoever if he’s any good.
I suspect it will be a prerequisite for any new keeper to be good with his feet given the way we now play. That will narrows the search somewhat
I would be disappointed but not devastated to lose him, its the loss of a transfer fee that the problem is . To replace him were probably going to fork out c500k and 3-4 grand a week in wages anyway .
Agree with most of that. The reported fee when we were trying to sign Eastwood from Oxford last year was 750k, so I reckon that's what we'll be looking at, unless we manage to pick someone up on a free or from Europe on the cheap.
