Free transfer from S6,never played a league match before, Adams been amazing for us.If he does move on he doesn't owe us a thing but we owe him plenty.Top man and a top keeper.
If I was Adam I'd be gone in a shot. What's the point in staying when he simply can't change the opinion of some of our fans. He could go all season without conceding and we'd still hear about how poor he was when we got relegated - like he was our only out of form player that season and it was all his fault. He can be having a great game yet as soon as he does anything less than perfectly you can hear the moans from some of our fans. It does my head in.
Why does it matter to him if ALL BFC fans rate him? They will be far less forgiving at Stoke if he ends up being Butland's replacement. Nature of the beast Mario. No player is rated by all fans. I thought he was excellent last season, but he was absolute ***** the year before, so I would still be unconvinced by him in the Championship.
I get that James but when it comes to Adam some seem to have very long and unforgiving memories and appear to be more intolerant of any mistakes he makes however minor they are. He's had a great season but some can't give him the credit he deserves. They will say he's been good but he was sh*t last season. I don't hear this about other players. I'm sure it doesn't really bother him but after such a good season it pi55es me off that he still gets singled out for criticism over our relegation.
Don't worry Mario. I've got a long memory and I can certainly remember how bad they all were in the Championship. I'm just trying to block the memory for now. That includes Davies.
Completely agree. I wish him all the best. He's been a great player for us- I hope he earns a stack of money from his next move and plays for another 8 seasons consistently well.
I know there'll be a doubt in the minds of some as to whether Davies can be relied upon in the Championship based on last season in particular, but I think he's underrated and I'd be happy to see him sign up again. He's played for the best part of 5 seasons for us and I think it's credit to him that he's come through an undoubted bad spell to produce what he did last season. You can only save what's put in front of you. David Watson, who at his peak with us was prone to drop a clanger now and again, took 2 or 3 seasons to establish himself and looked extremely nervous. When Wilson took over, he had a poor start to the season (let a free kick through his hands v Derby first game of season, caught out of position v Reading next home game etc) and then, for me, his season/career turned during the League Cup game at home to Newcastle. He made a stunning double save late in the game from I think Cole and Mathie, got an ovation from both sets of supporters, and never looked back, although THAT Ipswich game proved the point about clangers. Ultimately it comes down to confidence I think. And backing them when times are tougher. How many of our international keepers have had peaks and troughs in their form? Hart, Foster, Forster, Carson, Green etc
He was CT, but like any keeper he could commit a " rick" every now and again. After one game in the Premiership, where his unfortunate error cost us the game, we overheard fans walking up Grove Street and they were on about " feckin' Wattson" ( said in an unmistakeable Barnsley accent. ) To hear fans shouting abuse from the terraces at you, when you are not playing well, must do absolutely zilch for a keeper already shot of any confidence. Yes Adam Davies did have a poor season in the Championship and as a result, was for a time , rightly taken out of the team. Having a number of bad games last time round, doesn't necessarily mean that the same would happen if he played for us next season. Personally, I don't think he will be our keeper next term. Football is a short career and who could blame him for joining a Club who will be able to pay him more than we are probably prepared to offer him. If he does go, like a lot of our fans, he would certainly leave with my thanks for his loyalty, consistency and captaincy , in what is probably the most difficult position in any football team.
He does ,been great this year but crosses are his Achilles heal,if he was playing against us ,I would hope we pepper crosses all match
Well i could mention the winnall goal and the Fulham away one he let in from a cross on the corner flag or the one he dropped in under the cross bar shall i go on ? But as i said he's been brilliant this season and made bad errors every other season costing goals.
Also as a captain he's not vocal enough plus u never see him organising defence like i see other keepers do.
As anyone with half a brain has said - he had a poor season last time in the Championship. But he wasn't on his own. Yet he has been singled out by the knuckle draggers. So still, not a dozen a season. Far from it. Edit: I suppose the proof will be in the pudding. He'll probably move on this season and we'll have a new first choice keeper. I hope for the new keeper's sake he starts well, otherwise our 'fans' will be straight down his throat.
