Found this on Tykesmad which I found interesting:

"Adam Davis knocked back new deal. Off to Stoke City 11k a week.

Pinnock been offered new deal to make him highest paid player..thinking about it.

Liam lindsay and agent refusing to speak with club. Wants sold or willing to let contract run down.

Manager bringing in a few foreign players..plus others.

Looking at Liam Kelly the Livingston keeper and a German Keeper

    New CEO starts soon"

Anyone who has that inside knowledge has no benefit posting it on there.

The only one I’d tend to believe is the part of Davies going to Stoke, however I’m not convinced the club have offered him a deal.

It might just be the most negative place on the internet.

Probably not even close but that forum is astounding.

I’ve never been on there so wouldn’t have a clue. But it does seem bizarre someone would post that many rumours who’s suppose to be “in the know”

A bit odd for Lyndsay to not even speak to the club.

Players know their worth at the end of the day and I think it’s rather naive of fans to expect any real loyalty from a player who could earn significantly more elsewhere.

Granted we’re further down the chain but we often take players from lower league clubs where their fans would probably expect the player to show a degree of loyalty that never materialised.

That’s modern football and I’m sure we’ll have irons in the fire ready to replace any departing players.

I am a regular reader of Footy Mad although I've never posted anything on there. In fairness to East Stand
Red, he is a site Moderator and is always very balanced and responsible in what he types. He never
puts anything on there that could be deemed to be controversial and he's very careful not to breach copyright.
His colleagues on the site seem to be respectful of his views and he in turn appears to treat them in a like manner.

In the post we are now discussing, his heading clearly states "BARNSLEY FC TRANSFER RUMOURS"
and in a seperate entry, he says " Its that time of year again" ( re- rumour/ speculation) before saying ,that there are
rumours that seem to indicate that Moore is interesting Bristol City and Brescia want Liam Lindsay.

Both those " rumours", together with Davies to Stoke and our possible interest in keepers from Fylde and Forest
Green are all on the " Barnsley News Now" website, but for all we know, like some of our contributors, on the other
" rumours" , ESR could well have other reliable sources that he is able to tap into.

Personally, whilst I have also speculated around any new additions from time to time, I always prefer to wait until the player we are rumoured to be signing, is actually pictured on our Official website with the famous Red shirt held above his head.

To be fair, if Brescia really want Lindsay, you can't blame him for wanting to go. If for example, you played for Preston or Blackburn and the chance to play in Serie A and live in one of the most beautiful countries in the world came up, you'd be very unlikely to turn it down, or at the very least be extremely interested in what was being offered. We'd be naive to think that Barnsley is any different to the non-fan.

Agree MT. Like in any career, players like to "better " themselves in the hope they can play at the highest
possible level and earn more brass in the process. In my own case for example during my working life, I moved jobs seven times. On all but one of those occasions, it was because I could earn more than in my previous job. I regretted some moves
because I liked my previous job, but needing to pay a Mortgage and feed our kids and with no prospects of an increase, it had to be done.

Liam Lindsay is no different. I believe a major factor in him coming to us in the first place was our reputation of bringing young players on and then selling them for a substantial profit. That's the current Barnsley FC strategy and as much as some of us don't like it, we have to accept that from time to time, we are likely to lose some of our favourite players.

I concur with some of the other lads on the this board in that I would like to see us bring in a couple of older players
with proven ability to help mentor some of the younger lads in our squad. At present, that doesn't look likely that the
situation is going to happen, so until there's a complete change in the Clubs strategy, we have to accept it.

Absolutely. The Plan works very well for the most part, but seems to break down when it comes to replacing team members at second tier level. The first "tweak" in not letting players get into the last year of their contract and making sure not all contracts run down at the same time was obvious and welcome. And I genuinely think that one or two well-chosen experienced heads would make a world of difference at this level, especially when it comes to cushioning the effect of one or two key departures.

Mirrors my thoughts exactly. By using the term " proven ability", I meant players who have played at the top
level and still have it in them to play in the Championship, not some of the "dross" we've had in the past.

For example when Derby brought Ashley Cole on against Leeds the other night, he didn't have too many touches,
but when he did get the ball, he was calm and assured and made certain, that any pass he attempted, went to one
of his team mates. That's probably why Lampard has signed him. He's 38 now but Frank Lampard knows he's reliable
and the other younger lads will benefit from playing alongside him.

Lindsay is under contract to us and I would slap a fee on his head between £8-£10 million, which will either warn these clubs off, or bring us sufficient income to replace adequately. Peterborough have played this policy to near perfection over recent years over their sales of players. Our player, so slap a high fee on and publicize it, just to see how serious clubs really are.
