RETAINED LIST Club News Barnsley Football Club can confirm its retained list has been submitted. Continue reading on the official site...
As we thought apart from Hedges , who has been given the option of a new contract to stay. Big thanks to Zeki, Adam and Lloyd for their contributions. Lloyd Isgrove will be disappointed it didn't work out for him this time round. Good luck for the future to all three.
Quite surprised to see Louis Walsh, Louis Wardle on the leave list, just on the basis they seemed to be mentioned regularly on reports etc, but obviously the club can only allow so many to sign.
Different kettle of fish the Bahre deal than our own squad. He wasn't our player so we can't just retain him. Just the fact that he is not mentioned as leaving for his parent club, I'd guess that negotiations are under way on his option to buy.
I can imagine Adam Jackson should be able to find new employers quickly. He really seemed to finally make the step up last season, but was unlucky this season for the others to be in superb form. I wish all who left all the best for the future.
Guess with Jackson leaving we are defo signing a replacement. With only Pinnock and Lindsay in that position, I'd say we need 2 unless one of the U23's are ready to come through.
Really only shocks in there are the u21 releases. Genuinely gutted about Jackson. really rated the lad and will follow the rest of his career and hope it is a long successful one.
Says in today's Chronicle that Daniel is keen to take up the option to bring Bahre in on a permanent contract and also extend Dimi Cavare's deal into a third year. Between them, they have featured in more than forty games in season 2018/19. I'm really pleased that apart from Bahre, our successful promotion was achieved by using our own players and not on a glut of loans who having been embedded into our team then return to their parent Clubs at the end of their loan period. Daniel is now back in Germany to see his loved ones and to attend his brothers wedding. Regarding next season, he says that he is looking forward to it for the big games against big clubs in big stadiums. He said " I believe we are good enough to stay in the Championship and have another good season, but it won't be easy because it's a very good League."
Just pointing out Isgrove leaving. No idea who was debating with me the other week but happy to see it was just a two year deal - although sad it didn't work out for him as we hoped.
I will be quite surprised (pleasantly) if he does but really dont think he will I think Greatorex will probably sign one Not sure about Hedges but much more likely than Davies
I think he will yes, if we had missed out on promotion I could see him moving on but providing there are no silly wage demands, I'm sure he realises that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. I like Walton however think he lacks a bit of a physical presence at the moment, so I would be looking to bring in another keeper as well to battle out for the regular keeper spot.
At least there's still a chance of Davies signing, though I agree it's a slight one. By the time we issued a retained list a couple of years ago, it included a line to say that Scowen and Watkins had already turned the offers down.
I am pleased that Hedges has been offered a new contract. I am aware that he has a number of detractors but I genuinely think he has a lot more to offer than he's shown to date.
I think it's unlikely that he signs a new contract. He won't have forgotten how the fans treated him the season before last and he'll at least double his wages. Why would he stay.
