I'd challenge anyone to find any goalkeeper anywhere that doesn't drop a dozen clangers a season.

Every other season. Stopped making stuff up. Was pretty good when we got promoted. Was one of our best players first season in the Championship until the Wednesday game. Was poor and out of form for the second half of the season we go relegated. Every goalkeeper at every level will make errors that lead to goals. Look at De Gea recently.

As I recall saying at the time the problem when Davies hit his bad spell was that we kept playing him. I dont know if that was because young Jack wasn't deemed ready or because of a feeling of standing by him. Eventually he was dropped but it was probably too late in the day. Keepers are often played on through bad spells when I think taking them out of the firing line would be a better option.

If we decide to go with Walton next season we need a decent enough back up who we are willing to play. Walton has looked good when he has played but as Davies before him a young keeper learning his trade in the Championship, a league we may well struggle in, may need to be protected.

Yeah, he’s been terrible at organising the EFL’s tightest defence, keeping 20 clean sheets and leading us to promotion with our record points haul and unbeaten home record.

When he departs one day, he will be looked upon as one of our greatest ever. A club legend.

    In my opinion of course.

My sentiments exactly. You would have to surely concede that over the piece, Adam Davies
has done a good job for us. Some of his saves have been excellent, but like any goalkeeper
he'd be the first to admit he's made errors. It's nothing new for that to happen, but to my mind,
it's the most vulnerable position in any football team.

Exactly, you don't know what you've got until it's gone. The Nicky eaden effect as I call it.

    I never have.
    Top keeper, top captain.
No automatic promotion without him, as proven by his MoM performance at Fratton Park. Indeed, a legend.
Enjoyed reading all the accolades, so thanks for the thread, Farnham!

I made a mistake, actually it was on Ingleborough not Whernside. It was called Braithwaite Wife Hole. If you happen to bump into Mr Braithwaite, whatever you do don't mention this post to him.
