No ambitious player who believed in or had any genuine ability would sign a contract of that length at Barnsley without some sort of release clause in it
i think they need a new agent if that's the case

Do you believe these players are being given long contracts to build the team over a period of years or make more money for the owners as less chance of running down there contracts for a cheaper transfer fee
    therefore maximising there profits
    genuine question ?

players will be sold every year as long as someone wants them
if someone offers them enough cash to sell the club they would be gone by tomorrow
    They are investors
Goggle it if you don't understand what that means

The owners will not be here in 5 years
    feel free to bump it

The sad part of this post in my opinion is correct
5 years maybe 4 they will sell up and move on.. Rendering us back to square one.. With some new guy in charge no doubt doing exactly the same thing... We see a rise in season tickets folk buying into the ethics of the new regime and guess what the old situation arises ... Sell the best steak and replace it with a lesser quality meat and hope the chef can turn it in to prime beef steak... Whilst the public sit eagerly at the table having paid good money hoping for silver service ala carte menu only to receive a cold buffet... Will we ever learn

We have paid peanuts for players and sold them for a few million. Now we are paying a bit for for players maybe we will sell them for a bit more and then buy better quality more expensive players. Thus selling for even more profit while climbing up the league to the prem

I'm aiming to go to Oakwell on a Saturday or whenever there is a game and watching some entertaining football - preferably winning more games than we lose. I'm hoping the club doesn't go bankrupt. That's about it. Apart from forking out fro a season pass I haven't invested any of my savings into the club and I don't stand to lose a large amount of money. I accept that footballers today rarely have links to the home towns/cities of their clubs and are out to make as much money as they can from a career that is short lived. I don't expect to be consulted on team tactics or the financial management of the club. I can have opinions of course...but you know what they say about opinions? They are like arseholes - everybody has one..

Only good signings in that he is happy with will ensure he stays with us a bit longer. In the end he will move on too.

Where did I put the service revolver this morning?

Good for them. What relevance does that have to what I said though?

You were suggesting we can realistically have the same ambitions as Juventus. The fact that they are much, much bigger than us is surely relevant? We can dream of winning the European Cup multiple times but it ain't going to happen.

No I wasn't. I was saying Bolton Wanderers wanting to swap places with us has much relevance as Juventus not wanting to.

Hmmm, well I'm sure Juventus fans wouldn't have wanted to swap even when Bolton were in the Prem. Don't see the relevance. They're one of the biggest clubs in the world. Barnsley and Bolton are at least in the same ball park. Bolton have screwed themselves financially we haven't.

Ok that's fine. But on the build a team not a balance sheet point I'd ask this. Do you want the club to operate without going into debt? Doesn't have to be via "the plan". Would you like to see us break even and hold onto our players as long as possible?
