What a fantastic tennis pro Serena Williams truly is. She's just been absolutely hammered
6-2 6-2 Rumanian by Simona Haley in the Ladies Wimbledon singles final and she gave
her opponent a big hug as she congratulated her on her first ever Wimbledon title, plus when
interviewed at the end, didn't even attempt to make any excuses.

The women hardly ever put on a good final. It rarely goes three sets and why they get the same 2.25 million the men get when they play shorter matches is ridiculous. I can't believe it's allowed to happen.

Pi55e5 me off when the FA cup final finishes in 90 mins instead of going to extra time and penalties and the teams still get the same prize money

Probably had some PR coaching since her loss to Naomi Osaka last year

Just been reading that the start of the 2019 tennis season was the first time ever that Halep
started out without a Coach. Don't know if that situation changed as the season progressed, because I believe
she thanked a tearful bloke who was in the box with her family for his help and advice during her post match interview.

Seems to be such a pleasant well grounded lass. Liked the fact that as well as the title, the money
and the acclaim, the most important thing to her was the fact that by winning the title, she automatically
becomes a member of the Wimbledon All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

Yes, it's not like serenas ever cheated or bullied other players on court is it????

Did you also know she was fined at this years tournament for damaging one of the practise courts? She really does set a good example, NOT...

Didn't know about damaging the Court. Just a comment on her reaction after today's particular game. Given her standing in the game, I thought she came across very well and was very magnanimous towards Simona Halep.

Yes well done on yet again missing the point on everything. Women would happily play longer games to earn their money. The rules were imposed by men who set up the game for men.

The sets and scoring of tennis is not geared up for women. Its frankly ridiculous.

But carry on blaming women for a system they’re “allowed” to play in. I 100% guarantee that if games were played e.g. first to 24 games for both genders women would be happy to do it.

It’s the antiquated system that’s wrong.

I’m no feminist but some of the ***** i read on here about women’s sport from blokes who feel aggrieved is unbelievable.

Easier to be gracious in victory. She's achieved so much and should be celebrated for that.

The 3 set/5 set thing is the worst justification for inequal pay, women would be happy to play 5 sets.

The only reasonable justification would be that men's tennis is more popular and therefore attracts more revenue from sponsors, tv revenue etc

Delighted to hear Williams got hammered.

Pure diva, hope it’s the end of her.

McEnroe had it right about prize money.

Dare to say it as it is.

I quite like the scoring system of tennis myself, games that are seemingly headed only one way can be turned around. Set play is a fantastic challenge not just physically but mentally too.
For the mens game at slams I think it's possible moving to best of 3 sets for the first few rounds may actually improve things.
I can't comment much on the women game as I don't really watch much of it aside from a few finals here and there.
