Be interesting to see how we both fair this season given we both went up and they have brought in i think 4 or 5 players with championship and premiership experience versus us with a bag of pick and mix. They have also spent a few quid given the keeper they just signed for over £1.5m Will Stendel come up trumps again or are we going to pay the price of inexperience? Guess we'll find out over the next few months
I doubt the new CEO would embarrass himself targeting the "Premiership" with a "bag of pick and mix".
I'm certainly confident going into the new season, but targeting the Premiership??? I think that's getting a little over excited, there's some big teams with huge budgets in this league, we've amassed a squad of hopefuls who may play blinders and see us safe with a month to go. I'd take that this year, let's get real......Premiership year after
I visualise promotion to the Premiership every pre-season before a Championship campaign. Potentially only one season away from the big time
They’ve signed a few “steady eddies “, average age 27. With the exception of Galloway, the 23 year old left back they’ve signed from Everton and possibly the keeper, none of them are going to get any better at this stage of their careers. I’m more excited by our approach of signing young hungry talent. We may be relegated or promoted as champions. I’ve no idea which. They will be lower-mid table at best.
But it is essentially. Its another major revamp of the side and Stendel having to take 2 steps back before going forwards again with players that don't have any championship experience. Never a dull moment down at oakwell thats for sure. Just hope we get some early points on the board to give everyone some confidence while they all acclimatise.
I'm always full of optimism at five to three on the opening day, then usually back to reality by 3.45pm.
We play with a high press and haven't lost any of our midfield and attacking players that do the majority of the pressing. I'm backing Stendel and his coaching staff to mould the back four and keeper into a solid defensive unit.
Gary Gardner midfield general. Joe Williams midfield dynamo, most creative midfield maestro I've ever clapped eyes on
I think we will cope much better than them. They lost the 2 key players to how they played last season. Those 2 fullbacks were so crucial for them and losing them will hurt them more than us losing Pinnock and Lindsay IMO. Also not overly impressed with any signing they have made really. Galloway isnt that good, Mcmanaman has been around a while and been average for ages. They have smashed their transfer record on a unknown keeper who may be good but could also be crap plus if the defence aren't proctecting him he will still concede goals.
Moncur will have 2 stormers against us and otherwise do very little, probably end up on the bench, playing a bit part.
Remembered about posting this seeing the goals fly in today. Sounds like its starting to bite us in the ass. Not a lot we can do now though apart from dig in and hope we get to grips with things quick or look for a couple of uncontracted players. Made our bed now we have to lie in it.
