I have faith in most of them but there are exceptions in all the party’s . The system is to blame imo for the current conundrum. Most MPs on both sides of the argument are doing what they were put there for and that’s doing IN THEIR OPINION what they think is best for the country and their constituents which is not necessarily what they want which can be confusing but they then have to come back at some point for re section and that’s how our democracy works . What’s galling about all this is the ancient pomp and circumstance and laws from eons ago . They should be brought back to present day needs and fek black rod etc off.
The split in Parliament reflects the split in the wider country, so the MP's are doing no more than reflecting the national division on Brexit.
I once saw a brilliant Pogues tribute band called The Rogues. They're based round here. Not really relevant to this conversation but there you go.
Whatever happens with Brexit.. Our domestic politics as is will never recover trust from either side. Massive reforms needed to make it fit for the modern world. Start with moving out of Westminster to a modern chamber, they haven't even enough seats in there for the MP's nowadays. Everything takes too long.. voting should be done electronically, instant votes on on things etc.. Shake up of the way the representation of the commons is..whether that be PR or other ideas which lead to a more representative view at election time.. Just the tip of the iceberg..
It all needs shaking up with their pensions and salaries solely dependant on performance judged by their constituents. The rewarding failure with a different post roundabout needs to stop. If they’re not doing a good enough job then fully get rid of them. More accountability, a proper review of performance consisting of actual experts with relevant job experience. An end to the first past the post system and hopefully an end to the traditional 2 party system filled with self serving parasites. Labour v Tory in this day and age is ridiculous and helps breed the contempt by many against current mps. Get rid of the subsidised bars while we’re at it
Cant believe folk standing up for and arguing the toss on behalf of politicians, whom would still be shafting us with expenses claims if the cat hadn`t been let out of the bag. Politicians have been loving us the electorate for all your lives it aint owt new and nowt will change.
It's getting stranger by the minute. The PM's own brother Joe has just quit as an MP and Minister citing family loyalty and the national interests as his reason.
Yes, he personally wanted to vote against the government but obviously voted the other way round just to support his brother. Obviously reflected on that and decided too much of a conflict of interest. I think actually he needs a little credit for resigning. However ultimately he should have voted without the family bit clouding his judgement.
