It would be good to hear from the Board or the CEO on the following

First and foremost, there is a need to clear the air regarding Daniel Stendel's position. Does the Board/CEO lay the blame for poor results at Daniel Stendel's door? Do they consider that the performances were not acceptable, because I think that many on here would consider that the players were doing their best within their level of ability and experience. Did Daniel make other demands that the Board/CEO considered unreasonable? Did the relationship between club and Head Coach break down? Until there is some explanation on these points it is entirely to be expected that fans who are passionate about the club will continue to speculate as to what has really happened. To expect people who care about the club to have no view on these matters until more is known is to misunderstand the relationship that many people have with the club.

Secondly, there are some big questions to answer about whether the owners still see their vision for the club as workable. As things stand, the current level of experience and (possibly) ability of the squad currently assembled does not appear adequate to prevent a second relegation to League One inside three years. This would suggest that the stated aims of stability in the Championship and potential further progress are not achievable with the present model and the present level of finance. Does the club intend to address the situation in January? If so, will their sights be raised from the current level in terms of experience and ability, which will inevitably involve a higher level of investment? Or are they determined to stick to the current strategy in the hope that a new coach will be able to bring the players up to speed more quickly than Daniel Stendel was able to? Alternatively, are they now considering their future involvement in the club - not an unreasonable question given the current situation?

Long term supporters of the club are used to seeing the cycle of players being brought along and then their value being realised in the transfer market, leaving the coaching staff and the rest of the playing squad having to constantly rebuild. For much of the club's history, this has been a financial necessity. The current owners are, uniquely for Barnsley Football Club reputed to have huge financial standing, and took control of a club that was reportedly debt-free, other than the capital owed to them as controlling shareholders. The club's financial status allows for a modest level of borrowing or investment, in order to continue to participate in the more lucrative division in which they currently play. How do they see the present landscape?

Finally, do the Board/CEO feel able to acknowledge the hard work and achievements of Daniel Stendel's brief tenure as Head Coach? Whatever the reasons behind the parting of the ways, I think everyone would think better of them if there was some recognition of what happened before the parting of the ways. The ungracious nature of the terse statement issued by the club yesterday is not befitting of the way that Barnsley people think and feel.

I repeat that these are not unreasonable questions given the level of emotional and financial investment which many fans have made in the club over this and many previous seasons.

They'll give some spin on it and try to woo supporters.

Maybe with the new managerial appointment. Maybe Bobby Hassle? Someone we can't really turn on.

Why don’t you email the club or send a letter? I’m doubtful as to whether messrs Conway and Lee are sat reading online forums.

Aye because he'd definitely receive a response that way. This is a fans forum, one for posts specifically like the OPs.

    Thanks for the responses guys.

Grimeypit: You may well be right. But we are six months off the date when the club will be asking us to renew ST's via the early bird scheme (if it runs next year). I had hoped these owners would bring a new, progressive and financially secure future for our club. For them to perpetuate the same cycle that we have seen for years without any further ambition really will be the end for me this time. I don't think I'm alone in this. So in the absence of credible responses to these issues I will make my own assumptions.

Jake/Wilmers: There is absolutely no doubt that the club do have people who read and report on what is said on this forum. No doubt they ignore the vast majority of it. But these are a summary of questions to which I, and I suspect many more would like to see answers soon. My comments are there for them to see - I'll leave it them whether to respond.

Bobby said at a Supporters event last year, that it was his job to find the next Head Coach. Martin Devaney was there as well and not having met him before, I was very impressed with what he said about coaching, football, players etc. I wouldn't be disappointed if he was appointed, not sure if he wants it just yet though.

He's more likely to get a response from the ownership or a rep of the ownership by emailing, calling, writing than he is typing up something on here. Unless you're telling me Conway has an account on here?

Who from the club reads it? It's a fans forum of less than 100 people out of a 10,000 strong fanbase. Nope, I stand by my point that you're better sending such things directly to the club. If I wanted to complain about my water bill I'd call Yorkshire Water. It's pretty obvious.

Cant imagine we will ever find out what resulted in the parting of ways, probably will be along lines of took us as far as could sound bite.
    All reasonable questions though

Given the time that has passed since that appalling statement it is clear that the Board has no intention of saying any more. And in any event to do so now would be sheer hypocrisy, simply bowing to external pressure. Judge them by their actions.

I bump this to highlight that no further comment has been made on any of these issues by our Board.

People will have to judge how much their views matter.

I would imagine they ll hold tight. They have made a huge error but given time it will dim Daniel iant the only manager who can get a team promoted or keep a team in a division and at some point we'll drop lucky again. Doesn't make this any more palatable though at the moment

I understand that Bobby played a key role in Stendels appointment and was one of the first if not the first to interview him. I suspect Bobby was leaned on heavily when the new owners first came in but suspect his influence is much less now. I know he is working on qualifications to become a sporting director / director of football and would have loved that kind of role after GG left but the club decided to go in a different direction. I suspect both Bobby and Disco will be keeping their heads down at this moment in time.

I wouldn’t expect much from our CEO. Can’t recall him saying anything at all since the first day he arrived.
