No way is what he did unprofessional. He has a genuine regard for the town , the club, the players. It was only fitting he should say goodbye. But being a smaller club means we will have other up and coming managers and players that can make special memories and achieve against the odds. I think we may well have a dark period looming but as a club we will.have good times. And those need to be cherished. So glad I went to say my farewells today. It's made me feel a lot better and hopefully Daniel too And I will look out for his results in the same way I do for other past players and managers but there is only one team for me ,Barnsley FC.
I hope that he returns one day as head coach or just to have a quick sesh up tarn. Utterly gutted knowing that he will no longer be part of our journey as a club. Hope he sees the majority of fans appreciation and respect for him because he really is a red I'm not crying, It's raining on my face.
Difficult Helen, nobody is bigger than the club but this is another low point, but i know there will be a higher point soon....that wont be difficult.
These aren't tears of sadness because you're leaving me, I've just been cutting onions. I'm making a lasagne....for one
I take it he didn't answer any questions about what happened? I can't believe shy retiring Barnsley folk didn't try to get an answer out of him!
Perhaps the barnsley traits rubbed off on him and when asked he may have told them to **** off and keep thi neb out.
We felt the same when Paul left, he'd done a lot better at this level as well. Be reyt when we get a new manager in.
yeah maybe we can get Morais in to steady the ship again. I suspect this time it won’t be ok as we will get relegated by quite a large margin and a lot of fairly disillusioned fans will look at things next season in L1 and think that it’s fine to make the break.
Helen, the great thing about this post is that you and all those there have shown real class - far more than our Board of Directors. Thank you for representing us. Hopefully that is what Daniel will take away from us, not his shabby treatment.
As I said glad I went. He knows what's happened and who thinks what of him. And the way he said Barnsley only Barnsley reiterates that. We have great memories that he shares and I think him sharing last night with the fans is the only fitting end as things stand.
I’d wager there isn’t one. I do these things for a living and when dealing with public figures the announcement will always be agreed. There’s no way that announcement was agreed, or drafted by a lawyer. Plus I doubt he would have been out last night if there was one
No we didn’t. It’s true lots were upset about Hecky going but some felt it was time for him to move on. On this occasion I no of no one who wants Daniel gone. And if we are using Heckys departure as an example and saying “be reyt when we get a new manager in”, can I remind you who the next manager was after Hecky!
You reckon he just walked without compo then? His stock might get even higher before this is done! Jack Charlton used to work without a contract when managing.
sacked and paid in lieu of notice would be my guess - there wasn’t much on his contract to run, he doesn’t have unfair dismissal rights as he was with us for less than 2 years and Americans aren’t big fans of paying ‘employees’ anything more than they have to in my experience. I have a lot of US clients that are gobsmacked that employees have any kinds of rights at all! All guesswork of course.
Let's be right he only did better for the 1st 6months as he was allowed to keep the team together daniel never got that opportunity. Plus the squad was alot better than this lot.
Any lawyer who wrote a statement like that would soon discover he wasn't a lawyer any more. We all know who wrote it, allegedly.
