Am I the only one who didn’t miss us playing at all today ? The events of this week have taken their toll on me to be honest and I feel somewhat disconnected from it all. It’s a weird , numb kind of feeling but it’s like it doesn’t really matter anymore.

I am a season ticket holder and a fan of 35+ years and of course will be there next Saturday but there is this nagging feeling I have got that something has changed with how I perceive it all. Maybe it’s time to spend my time differently?

I realise this will be a post that will split opinions but I have a feeling I am not the only one who is feeling this way ...

It was nice to have a defeat free weekend. I didn't miss having no game.

I didn't miss football at all today. I've been drifting away from football in general for a number of years but have always looked forwards to watching Barnsley however the events of this week and the way I feel 'the plan' is suffocating us I'm not sure how much longer I can be bothered.

I felt disconnected when we set Machin on and stopped going for a while. But I returned and I am still here. Life moves on and so will you.

I feel the same at the minute and was feeling like this before the Stendel sacking. The club is very much in a mess of it's own making at the moment. I must admit now I have stopped attending away games and a few home ones it's very nice to have some time to do other things.
For the first time i don't know if I will renew at the end of the season. I have misgivings about the way the club is being run. Rather than going on in hope and waiting to see if we can progress as a club I am giving serious thought to stepping away and waiting until I see some progress and then returning.
If we do go down maybe I'll go to some away games only next season.

I won’t be attending for a few weeks. Just can’t at the minute. Lost all passion for it. Sorry if that makes me a bad fan. I’ll get over it though, life goes on

This week has definitely put a negative on it all for me. I just hate the way we’re being run by these owners.
If it was April ST renewal time right now I don’t think I’d bother.

I can't blame anyone for not going. This isn't the normal thick and thin stuff, these are different circumstances.

I feel same. Didn't go to Derby game and expected i would probably go to Swansea. Since then we have seen all of these issues this week. Right now im not sure im bothered about Saturday coming as a football first day.

There looks at the moment to be little hope of progress as a club beyond yo-yoing between Championship (if we're lucky) and League One. The hope that allegedly richer owners would bring an end to premature firesales has evaporated, and there seems little point yherefore in enthusing about any emerging talent that we have because they'll be gone before they reach their peak. For many, that will temper enthusiasm.

If anything, the sale of players seems worse. Pott's was allowed to leave mid season, and 3 key players before a ball was kicked this season.

Much was made of January 2017, but at least we had plenty of points on the board by then.

I have no problem with the players going. The issue i have is that the model is to sign inexperience, youth, potential. We then back our ability to develop them into saleable assets. We seem to have missed in recent times the reality that fans are expecting us to be competitive in the championship and top two if we are L1. We expect to see progression as a team and not just as individual assets. To achieve both the team as a team, its balance, its experience, its skills, its motivation, its quality and its confidence also need attention. With the lack of experience at this level, leadership, discarding the option of loanees and seeing confidence drop im not sure these elements are managed at all.

Agree mate. It's difficult to see how we can even get a foot hold going down this route isn't it?

The lunatics have taken over the asylum.

That line 'It's difficult to see how we can even get a foot hold going down this route isn't it?' IS the real issue for me. I dont think we have it as a priority to develop and compete in this league. If we have a plan i think its high risk and needs some good luck. I think knowing we make life harder for ourselves to improve at this level by letting good managers go, no investment in experience or selective loans, letting players go without suitable replacements is a reason why i asked myself if its worth it

Won’t go again till these owners either massively change tack with their idea of a plan or sell us on.
    Without ambition, without my support.
Yes we’ve always had no money but at least we’ve more or less tried to stay competitive in this league, now I can’t see that happening at all sadly.

The thing I genuinely question about the above is if the owners actually care? Sure they won’t mind dipping their hands in our pockets for a few extra quid but in my view they want to leave the BFC business ticking over as a self sustaining investment where they invest a bit of return (never their own money, the business’) on untried talent to sell on a couple of years later.
We basically support an ISA in a vast portfolio.
Reminds me of that article about the number of clubs that could survive with a 0 attendance due to tv rights, maybe they added onto that projected player sales and are comfortable with it?

It's grim on here this morning, isn't it. But I do echo a lot of the sentiment.
I'm sticking with it because I won't let this lot rob me of my enjoyable Saturday routine, pint with mates, match with my son.
But, with regards to feeling detached - 3 years ago, we had an owner, a manager and a captain all from Barnsley. It felt like a proper local club and we were all part of the 'family'.
Sadly, them days are gone forever.

Very depressing, I hoped the strategy was going to be to buy players from higher up for more money with the hope of selling on for even bigger fees. With the hopeful consequence of dragging us forward at the same time.
