No.... but just tones and undercurrents. Its unfair on him, because he shouldn't be there. What I instantly disliked was the lack of humility. Its obviously far too soon after Stendels disgusting sacking, but it didn't feel right. I could feel the opportunism, the glee, the eagerness to jump into the grave. You could look at many of his words and find no fault. Some will say it was a good press conference. Some will say he spoke well. I can see why some may say that. but for me the honesty has left the press conference room. Genuine answers seems to be replaced with more staged ones. Very subtly for sure. Wouldn't surprise me if there has been some intensive media training or coaching of his performance. It just wasn't Daniel... or Stern.... or Tonge.
It was a very successful at him getting through it without saying Daniel Stendel or giving praise to him, as i'm sure he will have been told to make sure he didn't do that.
At the end of the day, Murray is a caretaker coach, and Mowatt is a midfielder. Neither will have the full insight into what happened and are certainly not at the correct pay-grade to make any further comments than on the match itself. It was a Pre-match conference, nothing more. It’s Dane’s job to answer these Stendel questions, full stop. That’s the role of a CEO.
Agree.... and why its totally unfair on either of them to be the first to be interviewed since Daniel was sacked nearly a week and half ago.
If he wins 3-0 gets pissed in the Garrison and drops his kegs to reveal Daniel Stendel underpants , all is forgotten
No doubting it will be a great start for the lad, but I think the gist of this thread is that it is the board who will be held in contempt for their handling of the last couple of weeks long after the sweetness of victory has subsided.
I haven't listened to it yet so can't comment on how well he speaks but tbh whilst it'd be good if he speak well I'm not really that bothered. How well he speaks hopefully won't = results on the pitch. And we put up with all the **** that came out of Jose's mouth so it has to be better than that! I also agree that it'd be unfair to blame him, you are spot on with your last comment about did we expect him to turn it down. In the absence of any further communications I think there will be some animosity on Saturday in particular but I too hope that we're able to exclude him from it.
Press conferences are a waste of time. The pre-match ones rarely provide much insight. The post-match ones are even worse. If you've been to the game you already know what happened; if not, there's Minority Report and Nudger's Notes.
Enjoyed watching Murray’s video today. Thought he spoke clearly, intelligently and gave a positive looking spin on the squad we have. Which was refreshing to be honest. Looking forward to Saturday and seeing how we fare against a very good Swansea side.
Just listened to it now and I thought he spoke well and said the things I'd expect him to say. What he said towards the end about fans getting behind the team and "it's not about anything other than the team" felt a bit scripted. It will be interesting to see what happens. Whilst I agree that the team need the support I think it's inevitable that there will be some protest songs though. A question for everyone - would singing "Daniel Stendel's red and white army" be acceptable / unacceptable?
We know how Mowatt feels. Doing this press conference was probably punishment for sticking his head above the parapet after Daniel's sacking. Went massively up in my estimation doing that.
I’ve been very vocal regards the decision not to recruit more experience, and I’ve questioned the owners’ motives at times. But this is about a press conference of the caretaker manager and I’ve given my opinion on that. Not everyone will think or feel the same about every issue. I support my club and on Saturday I look forward to seeing if there’s a positive reaction from the players under a new coach.
