There are a lot of frustrated Barnsley fans, if we start to take a bit of a hammering, tempers will flare. But there's a good chance there won't be a direction towards which that frustration can be directed. No one is blaming the players, the new stand-in head coach couldn't really be any less to blame, and there's a good chance that neither the CEO nor anyone from the board will be in attendance. A stadium full of p*ssed off people with no one to turn to. A rudderless ship on a shapeless ocean going who knows where. Or we might win.
I'll guarantee that if they're losing at half-time they'll be booed off the pitch and then when they come back on after the break, the same people will clap them onto the pitch
I don't think it's too hard to imagine that if things go pear-shaped then Daniel Stendel's name will ring out. Many of us are still outraged at his treatment, and his name is a natural focus for telling the Board "you've got it wrong." Looking slightly further ahead, if (as I fear may easily happen) we go into the televised game against Bristol on the back of defeats against Swansea, West Brom and Huddersfield, then I expect the visible signs of protest to be there for all to see on Sky. Not an edifying spectacle for our owners.
I get that the owners might not be there, but the CEO has to be there, surely? It’s his full time job and he has started hasn’t he?
Before I make this next point I want to be clear I’m not condoning any recent actions of the board or contradicting any previous comments. But .......... I’d be really surprised if Dane Murphy and James Cryne aren’t there as they’ve been to every game home and away this season thus far. They make of course decide to swerve this one like, but I doubt it.
Understandable as it is, the last thing a young team without a win needs is a fan base that's too busy booing the owners.
I'm not suggesting he isn't allowed a holiday, I just thought there was a possibility he might not be there after what I took from Gally's post. Appears I read it incorrectly anyway. Although to be fair, it's not like he's taken the opportunity to calm the waters of his irate customer base since his return. He may as well still be on a beach somewhere.
Im sure there used to be some League rule that a club director had to be present to host the visiting team’s directors. Not sure if that is still the case
I dont think it's an odd day at all. I expect us to lose and we probably will do. Anything else will be a bonus. I don't let it ruin my day anymore. There's some decent racing on.
