Short version: Why do you trust Boris Johnson?

Long Version: I have extremely mixed views on the EU, some of it good (environment legislation workers rights) some of it bad (undemocratic, immigration issues, neoliberal sh#tfest - see what it did to Greece).

So in the referendum I spoilt my ballot. I'd have liked a Norway style Brexit, a country doing very well for itself with policies very similar Labour's policy book.

I get where Brexit voters come from and I won't rehash that debate other to say that whilst I agree with many of the issues they cite, they're not the reason for this country being in the state it is. Successive governments are.

As a left-facing Labour voter I could never, ever vote for the Tory party let alone put them in charge of the nations fate for generations to come. So I cannot for the life of me understand why so many life long Labour voters are prepared to give Boris Johnson, a Tory Etonian ham-faced jackpudding, the power to make the single most powerful decision in this nations history since Chamberlain (Edit: corrected) announced war with Germany. Indeed you're allowing a further right version of the politicians who put us in this mess to get us out of it.

It's as if Thatcher and 35 years of Tory rule never happened. What's worse I then hear them talking of doubling down by voting out any Labour Remain MP at an election. Take a step back and think about the future, not just inflicting retribution for decades of mismanagement by neoliberal right wing economic ideas.

Otherwise, take what's yours and be damned.

I certainly get what you're saying....and I doubt there will be many Labour voters actively supporting Johnson once Brexit is done and dusted.
Few, if anyone anyone would dispute the idea that the Tories have ever done anything for the North, but Johnson ( if he carries it through) is possibly going to scrap Hs2 which brings nothing but destruction to our area and spend that money on the North's transport system
....if he does that he will be making a major statement....one that Labour could have beaten him to, but sadly the party line has stuck with Hs2 for too long...and that metaphorical boat has probably now sailed.

For the first time ever I will vote Conservative at the next election.
Why - because Boris like his dad is an environmentalist - the Labour Party arn’t.
And as a Blairite - Boris is closer to Blair than what Corbyn is.
That is to say - Boris is closer to the centre ground compared to Corbyn.

Boris is about as close to the centre as Hitler or Stalin you raving baffoon!

I know this is one of your wind up attempts nudge but to try and suggest Boris is holding centre ground when he’s venturing further right than Thatcher ever dared is downright ridiculous.

What has irritated me over tha last few years is White working class people in the UK, who live in areas decimated from previous Conservative governments. Then decide to vote for and support conservative governments and people ,who let's be honest don't give a **** about you. I hear people in Barnsley say they won't vote Labour in an election while JC is leader,he's not standing in Barnsley but Islington. A report this week highlighted deprivation in former Coalfield communities, with 3rd generation unemployment ,poor education attainment. In a country and area with jobs for unskilled workers and free education.
If we leave the EU with a poor deal or at all, areas in the UK will suffer far more than in the past, except they won't be able to rely on the EU to grant aid. As has happened in Yorkshire for the last 30 years.
Why should people like me go to work for not much more than minimum wage? When people get housing, money have kids, but won't go to work or retrain to work. But have created this mess, have believed the lies of the Fascists, have blamed Immigrants. They offer nothing to our community and society but take take take.
Why our country and our future should be decided by liars and stupid people, God only knows. In the future when Yorkshire and the rest of the North becomes a economic, social and cultural wasteland. Who will be held responsible and accountable?
The Scab MP John Mann said the deal is "good enough ". He's rich and is stepping down to take up a job with the conservatives. In 10 years time his constituency will be even more of a dump than it is now.
Don't moan in the future about how **** yours and your family's life is, you created it by joining the Fascists.

Therefore Nudge you are someone with principles and understand the union movement. I'm therefore confused how you could support a party and PM who have shafted unions and workers. This PM is a shady charlatan who's dodgy dealings have until recently stopped his pursuit of power. He's using Brexit and his ERG Nazi mates to gain power to line their own pockets. In return for their loyalty he'll carry out the ERG's wishes of further eroding and removing employment rights. He's never been centre right, Corbyn is closer to the centre right. Corbyn's proposed policies are in place in other forward thinking countries. The CBI this week had to apologise to Labour for scaremonging about costs of privatisation.

Lets use John Manns constituancy has an example.

His constituents who are primarily white working class of poorer background have seen a massive influx of Eu migrants into the area which in turn has caused a suppression of wages, reduction in job security and has heaped pressure on an already struggling infrastructure.

Do you think those people whom through a slack arsed gov. At the time and one of the EUs core benefits having a detrimental effect on thier lives see anything positive in the EU?

Starmer took apart the government's argument. The detail or lack of is extremely worrying. No financial impact reports produced, it's frightening, how can you vote on something without the full facts?........oh guess we did that at the start of the process!

Easy way of sorting that internally, up wages and tougher penalties for businesses and illegal agencies treating workers like ****. The TUC pushed for this for years, instead successive governments haven't listened and the Tories own policies worsened the situation by weakening workers rights. It's not the EU's fault, it's was due to poor national governance.

A lot of the decisions made by this country over the last 40 odd years have been influence by the EU
