Just been talking to a Sheffield United fan. They think by 2 seasons they will be in Europe.

And we will go down to league one and stay down because our owners won't spend a penny

In their dreams. They've had a good start but it's a long season. And establishing themselves as a Premiership club without much money wont be easy. Look what's happened to a huddersfield.

Rather have them than the tin pot clubs like Bournemouth up there.

Sheffield Utd fan you say? His erudite assessment of the relative merits of all 40 odd clubs who who must be considered in this complex scenario will be accurate.

Unless he's on a wind-up, which is much less likely if I may opine.

Not being funny, but apart from Liverpool and Man City, there’s not much between the rest of the clubs.

If that continues for a couple more seasons, with Wilder in charge and some decent extra signings next summer, I can’t see why they won’t make a Europa spot.

And If they do, then fair play to them - they’ve not really bought their way there have they.

Wilder will end up somewhere like Everton and then it will all unravel.

    Such is life!!

Really? They've the foundations to stay up there for years.

They may well be 6th, but that's 7 points off a CL place and 8 points off relegation, I know which I reckon they'll be closer to by the end of the season. I had them to go down this season and I've not given up on that bet just yet.

Best of luck to em. Wilder is no mug and could potentially turn them into a club like Leicester. It's the 2nd pre m season that most new aides get found out, mind.

Genuine though, good luck to them. They're now everything I wanted my club to be.

They have. So did every other team that went up. They won't stay up. As soon as Wilder goes they're fck3d. They have a midtable championship team playing so far above and beyond their level it doesn't even bear thinking about.

Why would he go? Sheffield lad and I’m sure after another 2/3 seasons in Prem they could match most offers. Let’s face it, it’d only be a step sideways currently.

I do agree with Goldthorpe Red though - next season is going to be the big test.

Always viewed United the lesser of the big three evils- Wilder has done a great job there - no reason why they shouldn't do well and stay up. Similar things were said.about Burnley and Bournemouth. Getting established is the biggest problem
