...we were owned by a fan, managed by a fan and had local lads like Marc Roberts and James Bree turning out for us.
I felt like part of the family.
Now I just feel like any old 'customer', and an unwanted one at that.
What happened to clips of our players visiting schools, nursing homes, surprising fans at home?
These owners won't drive me away from my club, but community club, it is no more!!

Hasn’t Jacob Brown recently taken on the role of Community champion or something like that?

The players are doing that if you see things on twitter.

All football fans like to dream of their team improving and doing better. That dream has been removed for BFC fans because we know players who progress will soon be gone. Four year contracts are a red herring because it's quite apparent that they will be allowed to be bought out should another club come in for a player.

I perhaps didn't ought to have used the activity in the community example, by the sounds. But this place is my only foray into social media. I don't do the old Bookface, tw@tter etc, so wasn't aware that the players are still out there doing good.
That said, the disconnected feeling still stands. And, yes, we are of course, only customers, but personally, I used to feel like a 'valued' customer, now I am just a bloke that pays his money up front and turns up to watch young lads try, but with low expectation.

I don't think that was ever not the case, just that because players would have an extra year on the contract the fee we could negotiate would be higher.

Well the owners have hardly covered themselves in glory this season, especially with the Head Coach situation, and of course the results don’t help. So I can understand the feeling of disconnection from the club

If we as fans feel disconnected and disenfranchised, then the playing squad won’t feel part of anything either. Last season felt brilliant, it has been killed in swift time by short sighted policy and bare faced arrogance in approach.

Me too, since the club was taken out of collective fan ownership and into the ownership of one person. That he was a fan himself didn't really help that, it wasn't the same.

However, as a customer, and despite some questionable decisions, I still felt I was buying into an organisation with the same goals as my own. Success on the pitch. I don't anymore.

We're limiting our potential by sticking rigidly to signing players with resale value. We could be doing better on the field but that is secondary to profit on players. As such I'm becoming detached.

I appreciate the results are awful and the board are making errors. But this is still our club and it’s a community club. The amount of stuff that those behind the scenes do is incredible. As for the players, the entire under 23 squad are doing the sleeping out thing in the east stand with Devaney and other staff to raise money for homeless charities. Read about it in the match programme yesterday.

Nothing has changed apart from the results on the pitch. Last year potts was sold for no reason apart from to balance the spreadsheet but we were doing well so folks just kept happy clapping. Now we are in the mire the evil owner's are to blame for everything. We will still have the same 12000 fans next season and same heads on here complaining no matter what happens. When the crowds drop to 5000 then changes would have to happen. Till then just keep handing over the dollars and moaning on here.....

I think something did change - we will always sell players We sold Bradshaw last Summer and Potts in January - one player per window is sustainable. Bradshaw was replaced by Woodrow which worked - Potts wasnt replaced but Brown stepped up.
This summer was a disaster though - we knew we were losing Davies - fair enough and arguably Selling Lindsay was in line with our model. That should have been it. We should have kept Pinnock -at least until January and there was no excuse for selling Moore - had we kept those 2 I think we would still be struggling a bit but more along the lines of Luton, rather than out of touch. We've seen this before - change half a team and replace with young players new to the level doesnt work - the players may be good enough individually - so for example adding Halme or Diaby alongside Pinnock may well have worked fine - but throw too many in at once and we know what happens. Our owners need to decide what they want to do - the current policy doesnt work without changes and there is no guarantee we can repeat the trick of coming straight back up again after a year in league 1

I'll be really surprised if that's the case. If as looks likely, we go down with a really low points total I think it will likely go below 10000 - maybe back to the levels around 2003/4 of 9,000 ish.
