so we have bought in a 20 year old German lad and are looking at a non league player. What does this say about our under 23's. Ok so the German lad has played at various German international levels, but I have to wonder how good/bad are our Under 23 squad.
Played 17, won 7 drew 1 lost 9. Conceded 33. 22 points Sheffield United (in the same league) played 17 won 4 drew 4 lost 9 and conceded 34. 16 points
Probably as good or as bad as they’ve ever been, depending on how you view things. player progression is only the barometer not results.
We're always looking at non-league players or youngsters released from teams above or around us, and that should never stop - continuously striving to improve the U23 Squad and add rated prospects.
you mis my point ST. I was wondering how come non of these lads are deemed good enough for 1st team duty , and we need to bring in a loan and one from the non league sides.
Hasn't that always been the case that we buy players or bring in a loan rather than bringing in the under 23s? Remember that a few months ago Jordan Williams WAS the under 23s as was Ben Williams at the other side. There's only so many times you can bring through the under 23s to correct your poor purchases and sales in such a short time before you run out.
To be fair, Simoes and Oduor were signed for the U23s weren't they? We must be doing something right.
