After a bright start to the season it seems like Johnson’s well into one of his slumps at the minute & many of the Bristol fans want him out. They lost 1-0 to Shrewsbury in the cup tonight.

Twitter’s full of Bristol fans wanting him gone. Could be interesting Saturday especially if we beat them which we’re more than capable of if we perform like we have done the past few weeks with the exception of the Derby game

They've wanted him gone a few times but he seems to go on a long unbeaten run. All the way through his manageriall career he's managed to get himself into these strange spells and then hits a purple patch. Quite like him as a manager but there is an flaw there somewhere

Looking forward to work tomorrow (in Bristol). The talk since the 4th round draw has been 'when we play Liverpool' - I did warn them that they had to beat Shrewsbury first, that team they failed to beat at Ashton Gate etc. Can't wait for Saturday, though under no illusions it will be a very difficult game I expect, and they will surely have a point to prove after the cup exit. Will feel pretty smug beforehand though, I live a ten minute walk away from the ground

The longer we can at least stay on level terms at the weekend, more toxic the home atmosphere will become. If we get a early goal and go in at half time leading the atmosphere towards LJ won't be pretty.

Their Twitter is in meltdown, and the fans forum is actually not loading up, so clearly it's collapsed under the weight of their displeasure.

I keep reading on here how he's such a good manager. Nice chap, too.

Not a sneaky little pr1ck who walked out on us at the first opportunity - after most other clubs would have sacked him a couple of months prior - for whom you can flip a coin as to whether his next 10 league games yield two points or 28.

I would love it if we beat them and get him the sack.

Problem usually with this scenario is that Barnsley usually turn up and let the other team off.

Been a 28 game losing streak. Play Barnsley. 3 points.

Striker that’s not scored for 25 games. Play Barnsley hat trick.

Hopefully for a change we could heap some more pressure on him.

They're 1 point off the play offs. I think their fans are a bit deluded as to how things might change if they do sack him though. At the end of the day more teams in the division won't make the play offs but challenging for a team the size of Bristol city seems to be over achieving if anything.

Agree, clearly has some talent, just wonder if he has a tendency to believe his own press when on a good run and takes his foot off the gas.

I was hoping for a comfortable Bristol City win last night and for them to then underestimate us on Saturday. However, there is no chance of that happening now! It will be a very tough game and I'm sure they will want to prove a point. Anyone know the last time we won at Ashton Gate?

We rarely turn up there so this would seem as good a time as any to finally beat them on their own turf. In fact I don't think we've beaten them at all since Johnno took the reigns. Definitely owe them one.

He’s done a pretty decent job overall but they’ve spent more money than they ever have & I can imagine it’s a bit frustrating these bizarre upturns & downturns in form but agree it’d be harsh to sack him.

They’re one point off the play offs in one of the toughest leagues in the world.

    what do they expect, exactly?

thought he was ok tbh. he had no allegiance to barnsley. bristol are his club and the offer came in. more money, thriving city, bigger ambition, closer to home & family. plus most people wanted shut of him anyway. no isssue with his decision to move tbh.

unlike the guy who followed, who signed a new contract, said it was 'never in any doubt', then sold his soul and f.cuked off to leeds literally days later.

I was hoping they just scraped though and the players minds would be looking ahead to the Liverpool game - unfortunately now they can concentrate on the league and the players will probably be much more up for it after last nights debacle
We last won there in 1993 but have managed a few draws since though mostly defeats. Last draw was in 2015- Dont have a great away record there

A couple of new signings in the bag as well. Including that lad from Arsenal/Leeds who scored coming off the bench against us.

There is the small caveat of 130 years of us doing exactly that, yes!

It does seem a bit strange doesnt it - Some of their fans must think they are Wednesday or Leeds fans you know sides with a history in the top division so might have a reasonable expectation of getting there again
Bristol City had a short spell in the old First Division before WW1 but since then have mostly been in the lower leagues with occasional forays into the second tier. Their fans should have less expectations of top flight football that we have

Also IIRC werent they looking like relegation candidates when he took them over and he kept them up and they have gradually improved since will spells of great form shared with spells where they were poor but the general trend is up
