Yeah they beat us, yeah we're going to get relegated yadda yadda yadda but.... If you had to watch them all season you'd be suicidal. They hardly played any actual 'football'. It was lump it up front to the big centre forward. It wasn't even done very well, most balls were aimless. Awful stuff.
It’s a strange feeling this, most of agree with you , but most of us would gladly swap positions with them too
Plenty of teams this season have looked horrendous at Oakwell. Reading, Birmingham, Wednesday, Derby, Bristol City to name a few. We've beaten none of them, and they're all substantially better off in the table than us because while they may play terrible football (or they did against us), they don't make the one-second, game-costing mistakes our lads do. I know which position I'd rather be in.
Imagine having the ability to set such a simple gameplan, as you see it as inevitable that the opposition will at some point crack, and gift a gilt edged chance for you to win the game so long as you stay solid and don’t make defensive rucks yourself... People set up in this way against us because it’s easy and will get them results against us. Pointless whinging about the quality of football played by the opposition, this time next season we’ll be playing some real ale house standard cloggers who will definitely come to us and shut up shop. Birmingham have looked crap twice against us. Six points tells you otherwise.
sorry,Rosco, totally disagree with you here. I would have much preferred Barnsley to have played dull football if it meant consolidating this season. Then look to improve on the quality the following season.
I'd watch us kick the **** out of the ball in a 10-0-0 formation, home and away, if it meant we weren't going down with our worst points total ever. That said, Birmingham have cheated in order to be better than us, and should be relegated. But in and of itself, I'd take their tactics if it meant we didn't lose.
I totally agree, hated the way they played, worse footballing team I’ve seen this year. I would not hand over my hard earned to watch my team play like that. I am still turning up for matches because at least we try and play football. I hope somehow we as supporters manage to retain some positivity because the booing has to affect the team. That said Ive turned out enough times to know our defence seriously challenges our patience and loyalty. COYR
There wasnt booing on Tuesday. I think we all know our fate now and strangely I think people will start to feel more positive nie theres no more false hope to cling onto.
For a club that continuously overspending to the degree where they end up with a transfer embargo and points deduction, how do they afford career journeymen like hogans wages?
Get what you're saying, but the standard of football and refereeing in league one has gotta be worse.
Thats just it though they didn`t need to play much football, solid in defence, hit on the break and wait for the mistake. Kerching 3 points.
The trouble is, we want entertainment. The reality is, football is about 22+ professional players, all trying to earn as much points bonus as they can, anyway they can. If it’s poor to watch,,,tough. If it’s entertaining,,, it’s a bit of a bonus.
People turn up now expecting a defeat, anything else is a bonus. That's probably why we wake up the following morning not really giving a monkey's. We are attuned to relegation now.
