    The email sent by them.
Well, DPD, a bloke got out of a van and gave me a parcel.
    Difficult to say more.
Why does everybody need to be made to feel good and wanted? I loathe those emails that follow up something ordinary and simple asking me to be their friend by telling them how wonderful they are.

It's like when Laura asks me ,"what do think to those pans?". "Yeah they're lovely". "Look interested Steve".

Very efficient IMO. If they deliver my e bay purchases when I’m at work, they leave a card telling me they’ve put it in my wheelie bin.
    Saves me doing it.

i know the lasses next door neighbour however who admitted that she arranged the thing in the bin looking for compo, our lass had put it safely in the recycle bin ( if there is such a thing) as they are allowed to by hermes!

It annoys me when people do stuff like this, they don't think about how someone might get sacked from it.

Agreed but then at times it does need reporting though not generally to the media.

For example once I ordered something online and it was delivered by courier. I was waiting for the parcel coming so as you do I was hanging around looking out of the window at every car I heard go past that sounded vaguely like a van. Heard one so up I jumped to have a look and sure enough it was the courier so I headed off to the front door but being a bit weird I don't like to look too eager so stood behind the door waiting instead with the theory of he knocks I wait a second or two and then open it (just me then?)

Anyway I'm waiting and waiting and there's no knock so I go to the window and look and the van isn't there anymore. No card left or anything.

Pinned them up and asked where my parcel was as I saw the van outside etc and they said that because I wasn't home they'd put it in the bin. Had an argument where I pointed out I was at home and that they had no right to put it in the empty but smelly bin with a pool of water in the bottom (it was general waste not recycling) and they just kept repeating that I wasn't home and their driver had taken photos to prove I wasn't home.

I asked for the photos because I most certainly was home and the photo was simply an image taken out of the van window from on the road. Made them come and collect the parcel from inside the bin and got next (who I ordered it from) to send out a new one. It was clothing and the parcel was wet from bin juice.

The argument of the customer service team was that their drivers weren't alloted much time to deliver. My reply was that that is the fault of the courier company who should be ashamed of themselves for exploiting their workers and forcing them to cut corners.

My comment wasn't about it being put in the bin mate, if someone does something to damage it then of course they need someone to have a word with them. My comment was about people needlessly seeking compensation for the sake of it by doctoring or over exagerrating a situation when it might result in someone getting sacked, all for a few quid. They have zero empathy whatsoever for people doing a stressful job and trying to help the customer in the first place.

Ps i do the same thing when i see the courier van haha

Something similar happened to me with DPD. I bought a new hifi from Argos and booked a delivery slot for lunchtime. I was waiting in the front room and the van pulled up so I went to the door waited five minutes and nobody knocked. I went back to the window and the van had gone. I contacted DPD and they told me that my parcel was at the back of his van and was obstructed by a washing machine. As he was alone he had to do his other deliveries first. He eventually turned up at 7pm after I kicked off. They tried fobbing me off with next day delivery becuase the driver had to go back to Sheffield. I insisted he came that day.

I do this, too. Seems a bit strange to open the door and stand there waiting for the driver.

My theory is that they might not be coming to me first, they might have some scanning etc to do before coming to me, so I'd rather not rush them.

As for the bin... I've never had them put it in the grey bin, but they put it in the brown bin all the time, which is fine by me.

I live in a neighboorly street and we take parcels in fir each other. One they'd left sonething in the blue bin and I d put it down for recycling. They had put a card through but I didnt see it. Emailed boohoo even though it wasnt their fault and explained the circumstances and they refunded the money.

they probably checking you actually got it Because DPD are absolute useless. Since moving to my house 3 years ago DPD have managed to deliver just 1 of about 8 parcels to me on the day they were supposed to. I have had to phone up asking wear parcels are only be told the driver didn’t have have time to deliver and Will do it tomorrow, or he couldn’t find the house, had to go home Ill etc. My daughter was waiting for a parcel. I got email saying it had been delivered. After 3 days of phone calls they got the guy to come back and show us where he delivered it to. He looked down the street told us to wait a minute got in his van and fecked off. Another 3 days later a woman down out street found it in her garage.

Interesting thread this - I generally find DPD are one of the more reliable couriers delivering when they say and you can even track the driver
Yodel and Hermes the worst rarely turn up on the day they are supposed to and just leave parcels on the step whether I am in or not or even if they are supposed to be signed for
Remember one particularly bad Yodel experience - when I still worked in an office I opted for delivery there - they told me they cant guarantee delivery in office hours but anytime before 7pm - waited in the office until 7:30 to get a notification that driver couldnt deliver as no one there - which was a blatant lie took 3 goes before I finally got it at almost 8pm. Had deliveries as late as 10pm at home - though I think that was Hermes

Also get parcels left on our front step - when we are in (or out) despite having a next door neighbour who also works at home who would happily take in a parcel for us

We don't tend to have this problem on our street. I work from home so I'm frequently signing for and minding parcels for neighbours. I feel like I'm a subsidiary Amazon warehouse at times.

I completely agree with Titus though.
