That he would fix the crisis in adult care? Maybe Covid 19 is his fix maybe allowing the virus to run wild in care homes wasn't incompetence or accident maybe it was cold hard Demonic Cummings inspired tory plan to take advantage of the situation. After all Cummings did say keeping the economy going was worth losing a few pensioners. Its only when it's started to effect the wider population did lockdown occur and even then care homes were still left for weeks to manage without any help from government in fact the were hindered in their efforts by the NHS dumping untested patients on them under government policy and the government taking control of PPE supplies and not allocating them any. It was only when the press started to get their teeth into this subject and started asking awkward questions of ministers that things started to change. Boris the clown and his government should have some very difficult questions to answer when this is over question is will they be made to answer them by the media.

Yes most care homes are private companies that is a factual statement so what. They havent always been in private hands though have they in the past the NHS had hospitals and care homes for the elderly to be placed in and cared for as did local councils but the tories decided as with many things private was better than public well actually they decided that they and their friends could make a profit from privatisation.

People dont grasp this. Private care homes and it's big business the fees are massive the people who own these homes are some of the richest in the country, the staff are paid peanuts for the hard work they do. It shouldn't be for the government to provide ppe for the private homes.

Maybe so but when a private owner is being paid to look after elderly people it's that private owners responsibility to keep its residents safe. If someone criticises the government for not buying PPE when they saw this coming then they must also blame the private care home owners for not buying it.

No way ST. You’ve tried this argument before.

The government should have ensured care homes were given strict guidelines and monitored from day one.

But the statements put out at the time were an unmitigated disaster. Care homes were not included in the priority to get ppe making sure the NHS was given preference so to speak.

PPE coming in from abroad, irrespective of who’d ordered it . Was Redirected to the NHS.

My companies last order for masks ( key workers) was taken away at the border and went straight to the NHS. Less than 2 weeks ago.

Ps the government ordered half a million ( or more unsure what the figure was at the time) unfit for purpose peices of ppe. And are stuck in a warehouse.
