And I've got absolutely no reason for this.
But I really dislike the woman on the nationwide ads.

How are you? I mean that. because we actually mean it at the minute when we were asking. I don't know if you remember

Hate the nationwide ads, those sort of poems that they do that are so so meaningful. Yuk!

The first couple of poems were awful and then they seemed to get worse! I think the two girls (sisters?) in one of the first ones, I think they 'sang', had death threats - you'd think at that point Nationwide might consider canning the idea

I genuinely can’t remember the last time I sat through An ad.

The only thing worse than the adverts is their perpetually decreasing interest rates.

We don't get adverts telling us they're yet again slashing their already insulting rates of return.

It's a good point. I started switching banks every 12 months for the switch incentives (made a few hundred), but I've settled on First Direct now, and they have a good regular saver rate at the moment.

Its rare for me too I almost always video TV programs and watch them later and just skip the ads. Only time I see them is when watching live sport so cant skip them, not been much of a problem for the last couple of months though that one

If my missus woke me up to share a sunrise, I'd divorce her.

Anyway, banks aren't soft and fluffy. This bloke has it right...

I love that you still say "video" them. I'm assuming you don't actually still have a video machine hooked up to the tv.
But reading you call it that made me think of all the fun and frustration trying to one to record with the timer. My Dad messing the tracking, and getting mad if I recorded anything on "sp" as it took up more space! How easy we have it now!

Still got half a shelf full of them in the TV cabinet. Video recorder is in the cellar with a remote that has about 30 buttons on it.

I've still got a new VHS machine in its box, I bought it while you could still get them with a view to transferring the good stuff on the tapes to digital via the PC...I've just never got round to doing it.
I also have a Video 2000 machine, which was the best system by a country mile but came into the game too late.
We had a Grundig model for many years and have a big stock of tapes that have been sat in boxes in the garage since the early 1990's...about 15 years ago I bought one off eBay to again copy the good stuff....there was one programme in particular I wanted to recover...the tapes worked perfectly, I found the one programme I wanted, but unfortunately the rest of the tapes were full of crap like Blind Date, 321, and various soaps that my Mum had recorded.

I've something similar to the Magix device ...it works well but takes an eternity to use.
They might be more user friendly now, but going from memory it saved the video as a huge AVI file which then had to be remastered for DVD format and later MP4 or DivX, on my machine it could take most of the day to do an hour of video.

It’s easier to type Video than it is to type record to disk. I do still have a VCR and box of cassettes in the loft though doubt I will ever watch them again. Shame as I’ve some good films recorded. The entire Live Aid concert, obviously on LP, and both series of Fawlty towers amongst other things.

It would be a labour of love. Unless you are going to share or sell them, I'd drag the video out. Not sure if you can connect them to a telly these days.

If your TV still has a SCART socket you can still connect them. Or if not you can get scart to HDMI upscalers for around £20
Problem is the video quality especially on LP is so much worse than we are used to these days not sure I’d watch a film again.

I have an irrational dislike for Kevin Bacon and his EE adverts. I’m sure he’s a nice bloke, but he gives me the creeps.

Me too actually. I really like Kevin bacon and think he's a brilliant actor who is really underrated for his versatility. From what I've seen in interviews he's a really nice guy too. Buttttt those adverts just seen weird to me
