Hope he makes the critics eat their words and we survive.

    He's been superb since lockdown.

Wonder if he's just been working hard or if the lack of crowd is helping him

I can't imagine there's much worse for a young player than to have sections of the crowd on their back...it just breeds fear of being jeered, rather than just concentrating on being a good footballer and playing your natural game.

    Only guessing.
I would say both of the above.
Plus he will have been working with Solbauer longer.

You can't underestimate the difference in the passion, aggression, vocal-ness of a British crowd vs. a Danish one. That's a huge thing to get used to too.

I believe he also had jeers on Social Media and outside of Oakwelll, which can't help a young player. He was a machine tonight though. MOTM by a country mile

    Would love that to happen.

Always feel sorry for a player when they get abuse, but if he can continue with what hes done since lockdown ended, he will turn that around.

He hasn't once had a swipe back. Which says a lot about his character. Not like some players weve had in the past.

Long may it continue. And I've been very critical of him too. Truly hope he "makes it"

He seems to be finding row z now when its needed instead of tip tapping and losing possession

I don't agree with booing or jeering individual players at games but I guess a player can deal with it. To get it on social media or outside the ground is bang out of order and should never happen. If true I wonder what makes some people believe that they have the right to do this.

Oh, it's true. And trust me, five minutes in Mads' company would have even the toughest of folk softening up. He's just a really likeable lad who saw joining us as a dream. You only have to see his first ever interview for us, he was in awe of Oakwell, of getting a move to such a club.

I won't go into detail as it's not what I'm about, but I've never wanted a player to succeed more than this lad.

I felt like his dad, so proud tonight when he said that to camera.

We should be nice to each other. Nurture, not destroy. Let them grow.

And then kick off in a year or two when they leave for big money....

From the start of this season, I was pretty sure that both Mads and Bambo had the potential to become top defenders for us, still do. However, playing them together without experience by their side not only landed us in the mess we're in now, rather than having us comfortably in mid-table where I think we should be - but also risked wrecking both of them mentally before their careers had even started. An unforgivable decision, which has now been remedied with the signing of Sollbaeur. I just hope it's not too late.

He had me as a fan from when he signed. Enthusiasm is a quality I love as was his appreciation of the club. I really felt for him and I certainly yelled for him when he got the ball so he didn't only get negatives. You can tell he's always tried his best which tbf all the players have this season. Looks like it's coming together now, Stoke fans are running scared for Saturday and as Mads says we're certainky not done!

Took to him in the first game against Fulham when he cleared a ball off the line in the second half then celebrated as if he had scored (rightly so - kept us at 1-0). Showed it meant something to him, in marked contrast to the likes of Scott Wiseman, which is great.

Whilst as fans we can and do go OTT with our criticism, many of his mistakes were schoolboy errors. Whilst he’s not much more than a schoolboy in age, he is playing at a level and he did need a strong word from someone as he cost us a lot of points. Looks like that’s been done.

Some way to go but a marked improvement last three games. Well done Mads.

It's a part of football that I find really unpleasant and unnecessary. I'm sure it's the minority but they can be a problem especially with younger players. Social media is a sh*tshow at the best of times but it can be avoided. Jeering outside Oakwell ffs, on his way home or into work - some folk are just not wired up properly.

Spot on and fortunately many of us on here at least aimed the majority of the blame on our horrendous pre Xmas form on the owners.

I think we're all guilty of criticism on here, some of it can even be a little over the top but criticism and abuse are very different. I'm ok with criticism, I don't like abuse.

I don't know if it's the same at other clubs but some of our "fans" take a dislike to a player, hurl abuse at them and seem to get pleasure from seeing them get worse as a result. Even Nicky Eaden got similar treatment 20-odd years ago and proved to be a class player. Well done Mads.

Unfortunately there is quite a sizeable majority of Barnsley fans who are completely braindead. I'm sure this is the case at all clubs, but anyway they often seem to be the most vocal in abusing players. Frustration is understandable when things aren't going for the team, but I'm at a loss at what they hope to achieve by booing and heckling, especially a young lad in a foreign country in his first season playing at such a high level.

Mads Andersen is leading the Minority Report Player of the season standings by 2 games with 6 games to go. How can that be, when just about every other contributor was convinced he was hopeless at stages throughout the season. Well, I know he has made errors during the season, but that is to be expected when a player is snatched from a vastly inferior league when he was used to playing with and against very much inferior players. It was only to be expected when he was introduced to a new league in a new country and was asked to do things he had never done before. The problem was not that Andersen did not have talent. It was that he was being judged not on his potential, but on his errors. That is what coaching is about. You improve on the talent that is already there and you cut out those things that are holding the player back. It happens all the time, but it does not always happen under full public scrutiny. Andersen is going to make the club a lot of money some day, and if Diaby gets over the doping allegation, he will too. The problem is not the players or the club strategy. It is the lack of patience and imagination of fans.

But it is the club strategy that's at fault. Fans want their team to win. Chucking a load of inexperienced players together doesn't lend itself to instant results. Yes the club needs to be sustainable but no fan is purring at the thought of Diaby and Andersen being sold for profit, they're purring at the thought of them quashing an opposing teams goal threat.
