Yeah let's shaft the fans who might have had to delay the decision to renew due to financial stress and worry. Proper community club.

Good job you aren't in charge then. How many of those fans would you piss off by adopting such a strategy? How many had to wait until payday etc or to scrape together the money in difficult circumstances. How many would ever come back?

It obviously depends on whether anyone within that group of 400 had it. If they did, then that action will have spread it to someone. There’s a greater chance that someone in a group of 10,000 has it, especially when they’ll be travelling from further than those who were at the Garrison so as well as a much larger group it will also be a more diverse group.

    I would be surprised if

    1. Anyone in that group had it
    2. Anyone in that group will get it from being outside the pub regardless of proximity.
    3. The odds of catching it are continually lengthening. you'd be looking at 4 to 5000/1 at lease of catching the virus. So 10K in a stand. Outdoors. Regardless of how loud they are singing. Its a very in fact almost non existent risk.

We should get you onto SAGE mate - you could replace Chris Whitty, chief medical officer.

He's probably sat there thinking, why am I putting in 14 hour days when this bloke in Barnsley has cracked it for us

I didnt. The bean counters at work knock the stats up for our fortnightly get togethers using ONS/PHE figures.

This weeks will be fun given PHE have revised theirs!

Another month of dwindling figures and people will hopefully feel even safer at the prospect of returning to Oakwell.....

I disagree with you on this. When ST sales went out it was at the height of the COVID crisis, with entry to stadiums looking like a no-go for about 12 months. Couple that with not knowing what division we were going to be in. In the last 7 days, we (think) have gained survival to the Championship, and the virus seems to be easing.

I'm not saying I'm a better fan than anyone else, but if I stumped my money up on 1st June and I didn't get a seat when fans could return against someone who just renewed in the last week or two, then I'd be pretty annoyed.

That's it. I think of it like away tickets. Sometimes we'd like to go but first refusal is a pass holder who's been to X amount of away games already and it means we might not have a chance to go (like promotion season when we got small allocations and many missed out) and that's totally understandable.

As it should be that someone who's been a pass holder for decades and renewed not knowing if they could go or what league it would be in, when the club were in it's most desperate need for cash shouldn't be missing out to someone who decided after the Brentford game that they would renew.

I would hope as many as possible are back at the same time anyway and the government get their act together. Figures continue to dwindle and stadiums are outdoor venues. You'd be safer in Oakwell with 14,000 others then the confined space of the Crucible with a few hundred when Snooker starts there this week.

We’re all entitled to our opinion. I renewed around 20th June I reckon and will almost certainly be in the first 25% category. Also been watching the Reds for almost 47 years. However, my support and cash is no better than the next person’s. A crisis like this is not a time to scrap over who should have rights to watch the team and who shouldn’t. Willing to share with the fan base as a whole.
    Just my own opinion like.....

If that were to be the case then the club should have made it clear that if a restricted no of fans were allowed back in the stadium, first come first served would be the policy. As they didn't I assume there will.be some other way of deciding it bearing in mind they are still selling season tickets now.

So people who payed up in June may not get a seat against someone who may buy a ST today! Like I say my money is no better than anyone else's, but when people payed up during the darkest hours of COVID, knowing they might not get into a stadium for 12 months, lose their seat to someone who just payed is not on really. Think about it.

EDIT - Also the club can't be held responsible for covering all eventualities on a crisis that had never happened before, but some common sense must prevail in this situation

Exactly, it couldn't be retrospective. Imagine paying extra after the deadline passed and then being told you're not allowed to attend because you were too slow even though it was never mentioned that there was a cut off point. If it was to be first come, first served then only that amount should have been sold.

I am but how can the club still be selling season tickets if it plans to do first come first served? I think I'm likely to get a seat if they do it first come first served, but I wouldnt think that was fair.

Why isn't it fair and what is fair then in this situation?

Dear Joe Bloggs: we know you paid on the 1st June for your ST, but we've drawn lots and your seat has gone to Fred Bloggs who paid on 23rd July after he knew we'd be playing in the Championship and was sure that he'd be able to get in the stadium. Cue mass carnage and multiple complaints.

Paul Conway would be hit with so many law suits from (how ever many paid in June) supporters he wouldn't know which way to turn.

Tbh I’d take in turns for matches if we all couldn’t go .
Each to their own everybody’s opinion is valid but in unprecedented times I’d take a shared option obviously on the proviso it’s fair and Therein lies the problem .

Yeah because I’m sure people who paid extra (or even the same) later would be perfectly fine with being told ‘I know you’ve given us a few hundred quid but it turns out you can’t use your ST after all as you didn’t buy before this secret date we didn’t tell you, soz and all that but thanks for the money, very kind of you’.

The last bit was tongue in cheek as Conway likes a bit of a lawsuit!

But yeah it'd be carnage, lol.
