Thoughts? 50 seems a bit young to me and not sure how that will work in terms of people’s jobs. It does say subject to a rating so I presume it wouldn’t be all over 50s.

It does say dependant on medical conditions I suppose, I’ve got a mate in his 50’s with bad heart problems, and another with no immune system. So presume it will be based on medical history

    Not a chance!
The city of london including the finance sector would be effectively closed for business. Loads of the top end fund managers fall i to this.

Do not worry about this, they are moving the financial sector to Barnard Castle: all is well ;)

Don't believe a word that comes out of downing Street. The tossers in charge have already admitted that they are simply making threats in order to scare the population into doing what they are told

Who's going to pay their bills.. not everyone over 50 can afford to live well as it is.. never mind being involuntary retired..
I saw where the 'powers that be' have bought 30 million flu jabs for the over 50s and school kids. So its probably to ramp up the fear for that.

It'll be everyone over 50 unless you're not in full health... or work in a school... or work in the NHS... or need to go out to walk the dog... or have a holiday already booked in Australia... or suffer from the type of agoraphobia that only visiting a beach will cure...

I'm convinced most people are now just working to their own rules anyway, because the official ones are changed every other day and no-one can be bothered keeping up with them.

To be honest I'm just lost on the whole thing now.
Originally I thought it was, we have a new virus that is very contagious so will spread quickly. A new virus which will cause a increase in death rates for certain demographics. As a result this could lead to the health care system getting overwhelmed. Measures need to be taken to prevent this from happening. Now this has been achieved, some measures will need to stay in place until we are confident that still won't happen and caution is the order of the day.
Is that still the aim? Because nobody seems to say anything about it anymore.
I have no idea what the strategy is or the wider aims of these measures.
The numbers of hospital deaths and people in hospital as a result of Covid continue to be very low.
Are the local "spikes" leading to any increase in this?
We are led by a man who wanted to be PM, not to actually govern the country.

We are led by a buffoon who doesn’t surround himself with the best minds in the country but anyone who was loyal to him choose how incompetent they are ?
You only have to see his attempt at putting failing Grayling as head of intelligence to see what an absolute chancer we have as PM plus look at the honours lists and what they’re for .
The majority of voters have put our country in the grip of a non descriptive because he shouted get Brexit done and sticking it to Johnny Foreigner to keep the Asians and Africans away,WTAF
The next PM will have a Colossal job of pulling the country back after this pollock has ruined our country .

They’ve all been working from home for the last five months anyway. Shielding might be a personal inconvenience, but it wouldn’t impact their ability to keep trading.

Wouldn't the added latency of a home internet connection be a real issue?

I doubt many are on a budget BT package.

I'm on a standard talk talk (not my provider of choice) package, and have been working from home since March, and will be for many months to come. In terms of the feeling of imprisonment, occasional claustrophobia, and the fear of dwindling mental health, I am able to work from home. Imagine the big hitters in London wont have an issue.

I'm sure they've got adequate general internet access, but I thought latency was a huge issue for trading, with companies literally paying millions to shave off milliseconds.

It is, but an FTTP package has very low latency. My business line has latency down to London at about 2ms usually. Our phone line connection is anywhere from 30 to 100ms
