People with similar usernames on here who have the same three letter avatar in the same colour.

And on the zebra crossing one, people who stand at or near a zebra crossing but don't make it clear that they want to cross so I've got no idea whether to stop or not

Speed cameras on motorways that aren't always turned on so one minute someone can go 5mph over the limit and get caught then they're randomly turned off and a BMW flies past at over 100 without a flash.

The Highway Code says you must stop if someone is actually on the crossing, not standing waiting to cross. So you don't have a problem at all.

It's considerate, however, to stop if it is clear that someone is waiting to cross.

Anything in the HC without the word MUST is a grey area, with the word MUST it is compulsory and punishable if not obeyed.

There are times when I go into the garden to feed the birds and they don't fly away! Don't they realise it's a huge blow to my macho ego when they're no longer afraid of me?:D

Yeah it's the considerate bit I struggle with. I don't want to be inconsiderate and carry on if they're waiting to cross but dont want to stop and look a ******** as they turn and wander off instead.

When I want to use a zebra crossing I'm a bit weird, I will look for cars quite early and if there's one or two I will purposely hang back well away from the crossing till they've gone then walk towards it and cross. If there's loads of cars I walk over and stand really obviously at the edge of the pavement

The highway code has to be one of the worst possible documents in existence which purports to provide guidance and rules for something as obviously dangerous as using roads.

A brilliantly awful example being that for clearance distances for cars passing cycles.

Rule 139 of the Highway Code states “give cyclists at least as much room as you would a car when overtaking”. To many drivers that means "don't give them any space at all".

Pensioners that take 5 mins to take a tenner out of a cashpoint. How difficult is it?

I'm happy I live here rather than Equatorial Guinea, Somalia or South Sudan. Our government is slightly less corrupt.

How much space should I give them? I'm sure I must give them about 3 times the recommended space every time. I'm practically on the opposite pavement when I get near a bike.
