I think it’s important Schmidt does come on for someone, for every game. By keep on giving someone game time, you keep them sharper. Surely the other night was Schmidt’s first appearance in 4-5 games? Am I right? If so, he looked sharp (all shots on target), but perhaps with more game time previously, he may have converted one of those chances.
Looking back the first effort he had to take first time. The header was a snap header not much time to place it. The third he dawdled and let the defender put him off. He should have gone across the keeper and gone sooner. When he broke again and squared it for Simoes I think he'd lost a bit of bottle through his earlier misses and took the easy option. Had he taken an earlier chance I think he'd have dragged it back and gone himself.
