Its bizarrely the only round that is midweek - no idea where the logic is there Id still prefer Luton to win tomorrow but happy to take Chelsea in front of the cameras - Luton would just be on a red button channel but we do have more chance of beating them
I'm more bothered about Luton being a tougher game. If we're 3-0 down to Chelsea you can rest some legs. You can't do that 1-1 with 20 mins to go v Luton.
And your point on being annoyed and crushed by losing out to Luton. Chelsea is a free hit and amazing reward for the players and Val
I think the truth might be somewhere in the middle but it's in the past. Great win against a Premier League club in all but stature today.
Having discussed this earlier with you and thought on it a while I think those of us saying we don't care if we can't go are essentially feeling sorry for ourselves.
Believe me. That makes sense. On one hand I'm selfishly thinking about what an FA Cup 5th Round game vs. Chelsea will do for my interaction with the outside world vs. playing Luton. On the other, I think the lads and Big Val deserve Chelsea and a chance to shine.
I'd rather play Luton and have a realistic shot at a quarter final. The so called "glamour" of playing Chelsea again in an empty stadium has little appeal. We're a Championship club. We come up against big guns in one of the cup competitions on a fairly regular basis, we shouldn't be starry eyed about it. Get as far as we can and try to achieve something rather than go weak at the knees because we're on Sky against Chelsea.
I'm not particularly bothers about it being a big name club or not so logically I'd say we want Luton as they are in theory the easier opposition but I can't help but feel that if we lose against Luton it would hurt our confidence more than if we lose against Chelsea. If we were to beat either team the result is largely the same.
