..to match the standard of the rest of the team. Our football has on the whole been more than satisfactory, since January. But goals are what count. Anyway, obviously it's now time for Senna The Soothsayer to scurry about shrieking "beware the Ides of March".
Your right The team have stopped scoring goals. If you cannot score you don't win The chances are there it needs better quality to take them
We need a creative midfield player and a replacement for Winnall. Unfortunately that is a massive ask given our budget. Winnall's contribution in tight games was immense and is not easily replaced. Conor is even more difficult to replace.
We have two very good forwards (and another who was inexplicably sent out on loan) but they are wasted whilever we insist on hoofing the ball in the air so much.
Neither can creditably hold the ball up nor pose much of a threat from a cross. And we play with a winger(s)
Can we try pointing big Gus towards the opposition's goal? Most prolific scorer on the books at the moment.
Goals are drying up but we'd have had to have scored three to win today because it's another game without a clean sheet. Our defence is good but not brilliant like some make out on here. If premiership clubs want any of them then fair enough, but not one of our defenders is that good. Davies has saved more shots on target than any other keeper in the league this season. That wouldn't be a stat if the four in front of him were as good as they are talked up as.
Not specifically forwards, just anyone that can shoot. So many poor attempts on goal today. Watkins one on one with keeper and managed to put it over. Scowen, Bradshaw, Kent all guilty of the same. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
I'll say this about today though. Bradshaw played the whole game with his back to goal, having little effect on their defenders. Norwich on the other hand had Jerome who holds up the ball and brings others into play. Norwich got no joy from knocking high balls to him, so played into feet, whereas we just knock stuff up to Bradshaw thoughtlessly. He's a trier, but that's not going to get the best from him. But they are both missing chances. Bradshaw missed four today. Armstrong missed two at QPR as did Watkins All had chances against Ipswich That suggests it's a lack of luck/ability/composure rather than they style of play to blame I can't understand the oft repeated claim of how good Armstrong is though. Waste o time.
Still cant get my head rarnd Payne being let out on loan, yes the lad had a lot of learning to do, but for me he was something different to bring off the bench.
Payne had a bad injury and they thought he needed regular game time to get up to speed so they sent him on loan . It hasn't worked out though .
And I have yet to be convinced that Bradshaw is better than Winnall... Next season we will need at least 2 strikers... but they cost money... so unless we are shopping at Eastfleet, don't hold yer breath. Some height and steel in midfield... we've got the fancy-dans in Mowatt and Moncur... But if Josh goes, then we will be a walk over... need at least 2 ratters. If Hecky pulls this off.. then just give him the keys to the club. If the club wants to save money then sack the rest... and let him run the lot.. I Oh and some defenders that don't switch off from set-pieces and restarts please..
Absolutely right. If Armstrong had scored half the ones he's missed we'd have another 6/7 points at least.
We have missed chances as have the opposition. I've been to every game post January and we have been poor to adequate other than at villa. Results don't lie before January we were top 10 post January we are bottom 3. It's cold but that's where we are a big summer lies ahead.
Totally agree about the defenders. Yiadom, Roberts and MacDonald have all been fantastic for us this season but they switch off. Roberts got caught by a long ball on Saturday that lead to their first goal, MacDonald does day dream and Yiadom gets caught up field at times and doesn't realise the danger leading to that. Can't help being frustrated at this second half of the season, a season of which we should be proud being in the top half all season. Unfortunately, that looks like it will soon change.
